MINUTES <br />SPECIAL CITX COUNCIL MEETING <br />DECEMBER 30, 1981 <br />PAGE 2 <br />~ ~ <br />Councilmember Brown informed that implemention of the Lauderdale LAUDERDALE <br />Rescue Contract has been deferred in order that Chief Renchin may RESCUE CONTRA: <br />explain to the Lauderdale Council his reasons for objecting to having <br />both the Falcon Heights Rescue and Health Central telephone numbers <br />on the emergency information. <br />Mayor Warkentien read a letter from the City Clerk of Lauderdale <br />stating that the Lauderdale City Council supports retaining the 4-way <br />stop signs at Cleveland and Roselawn as they feel it is definitely in <br />the best interests of Lauderdale residents. Clerk Administrator Barnes <br />was directed to write a letter to the City of Lauderdale informing <br />that the County has not as yet done any study on the intersection, <br />but that a study will be done within the 2 year trial period. Council- <br />member Larson requested that the staff keep a record"of-all correspond- <br />ence/phone calls on the matter. <br />Councilmember Brown moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, that the <br />minutes of December 9, 1981 be approved. Upon a vote being taken <br />the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Warkentien and Council- <br />member Brown, and the following voted against the same: None. <br />Councilmember Larson abstained. Motion carried. <br />Engineer Lemberg informed that bids received for the Community Build- <br />ing project were opened on December 29, 1981 and presented a tabulation <br />of the five low bids. The low bidder was Robert 0. Westlund Company <br />with a base bid of $647,000.00. Engineer Lemberg recommended awarding <br />the bid to the Robert 0. Westlund Company on their base bid plus desired <br />alternates. Engineer Lemberg recommended that the following alternates <br />be left out of the construction plans: Alternate 465, true skylight in <br />lobby,Alternate 467, quarry the in Maintenance and Fire Department <br />rest rooms, Alternate 468, ceramic the in Maintenance and Fire Depart- <br />ment rest rooms, Alternate 4612, enclosure of Fire Department mezzanine, <br />Alternate 4614_. door between Fire Department and Administrative area, <br />and Alternate 4613, door between Maintenance Department and Administrative <br />area. <br />LAUDERDALE <br />INDICATES <br />SUPPORT OF 4- <br />WAY STOP SIGN. <br />AT CLEVELAND <br />& ROSELAWN <br />MINUTES OF <br />DECEMBER 9, <br />1981 APPROVED <br />BIDS ON <br />PROPOSED CITY <br />COl~L~1UNITY <br />CENTER <br />PRESENTED <br />Councilmember Eggert arrived at this time and Engineer Lemberg gave him COUNCILMEMBER <br />a brief review of the alternates and his recommendations regarding the EGGERT ARRIVES <br />alternates. <br />Councilmember Eggert stated he strongly felt Alternates 13 and 14 should DISCUSSION OF <br />be included as it would be inconvenient to not have a direct connection ALTERNATES <br />between the two halves of the building since the absence of such doors ON CITY <br />would require Fire Department members and maintenance workers to walk BUILDING <br />around the building to enter the administrative area. Both Council- <br />members Eggert and Larson were of the opinion that if the doors are <br />not included in the plans, that it might be necessary to cut the doors <br />through at a later date which would be more costly. After a short <br />discussion Council agreed to include Alternate 13 in the plans providing <br />for a door from the Maintenance area to the Administrative area as the <br />maintenance workers would have more need to make frequent trips to the <br />administrative area. <br />
