MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JANUARY 27, 1982 <br />PAGE 3 <br />j <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes requested that Council consider paying the MAINTENANCE <br />maintenance employees time and one half for overtime. Following a short EMPLOYEES TO <br />discussion Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, that RECEIVE TIME <br />the maintenance employees be paid time and one half for overtime. Motion AND ONE HALF <br />carried unanimously. FOR OVERTIME <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes requested authorization to expend $6,144.00 in FIRE OFFICER <br />Liquor Funds during the year 1982 to-pay the salaries of the Fire Depart- TO BE PAID <br />went Officers as has been done previously. Councilmember Larson moved, FROM LIQUOR <br />seconded by Councilmember Eggert, that the request be granted. Motion FUNDS <br />carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Warkentien introduced Resolution 82-8 and moved its adoption. <br />Councilmember Larson seconded the motion-and upon a vote being taken the <br />8esolution was adopted unanimously. <br />RESOLUTION 82-8 RESOLUTION <br />82-8 <br />A.RESOLUTTON ON THE DEATH OF MAHT02~DI FIRE- <br />MEN ROBERT B. HAYS AND BRUCE J. RAEBURN <br />Mayor Warkentien presented the following appointments to the Recreation MARION HOOD <br />Committee and requested Council's approval: Marion Hood, 1597 Holly- STEVE HARD <br />wood Court, and Steve Hard, 1937 Autumn. Mayor Warkentien moved, APPOINTED TO <br />seconded by Councilmember Larson, that the appointments be approved. REC. COMMITTE <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes requested authorization to order a new CITY TO <br />police car for the City and inquired whether or not Council desired PURCHASE NEW <br />to keep the old squad car for back-up purposes. During the discussion SQUAD CAR <br />Council determined that the old car should be sold and have the County <br />provide a back up car as is the present practice. Councilmember Larson <br />moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert, that the Clerk Administrator <br />be authorized to purchase a police car as specified. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that he and the Clerk Administrator PROPOSED <br />had attended a meeting in Roseville called for the purpose of discussing RAMSEY COUNT <br />the Hotel/Motel Tax Bill being proposed by Ramsey County. He stated HOTEL/MOTEL <br />that those in attendance objected strongly to the bill due to the fact TAX <br />that the bill does not stipulate the distribution of the funds, although OPPOSED <br />the author has indicated the intent is to levy a 6% tax with 2% <br />allocated to each of the following: Ramsey County, Suburban Communities, <br />and the suburban Chamber of Commerce or tourist bureau. In St. Paul <br />the proceeds will be allocated 2X to the County and 4% to St. Paul. <br />After discussing the matter Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by <br />Councilmember Larson, that Resolution. 82-9 be adopted opposing the <br />proposed tax bill, Motion carried unanimously. <br />mously. <br />RESOLUTION 82-9 RESOLUTION <br /> 82-9 <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING A PROPOSED RAMSEY COUNTY <br />HOTEL/MOTEL TAX <br />
