Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />State Representative John Rose addressed Council offering his assistance REP. JOHN <br />and willingness to answer any questions on the State level, after which ROSE <br />Council thanked him for his offer and for past assistance. <br />Marlc Rutzik, owner of Rock-A-Fellas, 1544 W. Larpenteur, was in attendance ROCK-A-FELLAS <br />to request permission to expand the business into the recently vacated TO EXPAND <br />H and R Block location. Mr. Rutzik assured Council that the business INTO H & R <br />would continue to be operated following the same rules stipulated by BLOCK AREA <br />Council at the time the original conditional use was granted. After a <br />short discussion Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, <br />that the request be granted. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Warkentien presented for Council's consideration a variance request JAMES LOUGHREY <br />from James Loughrey, 1859 Simpson, to build a garage two feet from the 1859 SIMPSON <br />rear and side lot lines, and also to construct his driveway on the lot VARIANCE FOR <br />line where his present driveway is located. Councilmember Larson explained GARAGE & <br />that the Planning Commission at the May 3, 1982 meeting recommended approval DRIVEWAY <br />of the variance. Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Councilmember GRANTED <br />Eggert, that the variance be granted. Motion. carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Warkentier. requested Council consider authorizing the Clerk Admini- JAY MORGAN <br />strator to hire Jay Morgan, 1478 N. llale, St. Paul, MN, in the maintenance HIRED IN <br />department at a salary of $950.00 per month. Councilmember Eggert was of the MAINTENANCE <br />opinion that due to the nature of the. work to be performed by Mr. Morgan DEPT. <br />that he should. have a spine x-ray and moved to amend the motion to include <br />requiring the x-ray. Mayor Warkentien agreed to the amendment, Council- <br />member Larson withdrew the. second, and Councilmember Eggert seconded the <br />amended motion. It was agreed that the City should pay for the cost of the <br />x-ray. Upon a vote being taken the. following voted in favor thereof: Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmembers Eggert, Ciernia and Che.stovich, and the follow- <br />ing voted against the same.- (~oatnclmemh~r Larson. Mntion_rarried. <br />Engineer Lemberg recommended that the 1982 sealcoating project be schc~~+uled 1982 SEAL- <br />for the northeast area of the City. He also recommended that the University COATING `CO <br />Grove area be sealcoat_ed on a scheduled b~isis with the alley sealcoating BE DONE IN <br />project. NORTHEAST <br />QUADRANT <br />Councilmember Larsun moved, seconded by Councilmember Egger t, that the 1982 <br />sealcoating be done in the northeast quadr~_int of the. City and that the <br />Clerk Administrator be authorized to e~dvertise for bids immediately in <br />order that Council may finalize the matter at the June 9th meeting. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Mr, and Mrs. Robert Spencer, 1577 Vincent, were. in attendance requesting ROBERT SPENCER <br />a variance. to place an addition to the.r_ home 6 feet from the side lot 1577 VINCENT <br />line rather than the required 7'2 feet. After a spurt discussion Council- VARIANCE <br />member Larson. moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert-, that the variance GRANTED <br />be granted. Motion carried unanimuusly. <br />Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Ciernia, that LEAGUE <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmember Larson and Clerk Administrator Barnes CONVENTION <br />6/15 - 6/18 <br />
