MINUTES ~' ~ `~ <br />SPECIAL CITY COUTdCIL MEETING~PUBLIC HEARTNG <br />OCTOBER 5, 1982 <br />PAGE 9 <br />I <br />The minutes of September 22 were discussed. Councilmember Larson MI1~'UTES OF <br />requested that the minutes be amended to contain more information re- SEPTEMBER 22~ <br />garding the Fire Department controversy. She advised Brad '.emberg DEFERRED <br />that she had spoken with Chief Renchin regarding the complaints on his <br />bothering the painters and electricians and the next day he apologized <br />but they did not know what he was apologizing for. She requested that <br />Engineer Lemberg's statement be included in the minutes. Mayor <br />%arkentien felt that it was not necessary to have the information in <br />the minutes but Councilmember Larson felt strongly that it should be <br />included for future reference and Councilmember Eggert agreed. <br />A discussion then ensued regarding items that the Fire Department <br />would like corrected in the new building. Mayor Warkentien moved, <br />seconded by Councilmember Larson, that the minutes of September 22nd <br />be deferred until the corrections can be made. NSotion carried unan- <br />imously. <br />Mayor W'arkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert, that the CLERK ADMIN. <br />Clerk Administrator be authorized to proceed with participation in TO PROCEED <br />the Hartman Tree Farm Shade Tree Program as discussed at the last WITH HARTMAN <br />meeting. Motion carried unanimously. TREE FARM <br />PROGRAM <br />A letter dated September 27 from Mike Heffron, Minnesota State Fair, <br />and a letter dated September 2!~ from Clinton Hewitt, University of U OF M AND <br />Minnesota, indicating neither organization is interested in participating STATE FAIR <br />in the purchase and installation of a siren were noted. NOT <br />INTERESTED I1~ <br />Council noted that the dedication for the Community Building was held SIREN INSTA- <br />October 3, 1982 and that progress is still being made on completion of ELATION <br />the construction. Mayor Warkentien informed that he and the Clerk <br />Administrator had met with GTA on October !~, 1982 for the closing of SALE CLOSED <br />the sale on the old City Hall property at 1641 ~. Larpenteur and that ON CITY <br />they received a check in the amount of $223,000 making a total of PROPERTY AT <br />X22 5, 000 received for the property. 164l~ YV. <br />LARPENTEUR <br />Mayor Y~arkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, that Council <br />accept the resignation of Planning Commission Member, John Labalestra. J. LABALESTRA <br />Motion carried unanimously. RESIGNS FROM <br />PLANNING <br />Mayor Vtarkentien recommended, subject to Council approval, the appoint- CORRtQ. <br />ment of Phil Chenoweth to replace Mr. Labalestra on the Planning Commission. <br />He stated he had discussed the matter with the City Attorney and that there PHIL CHENOWEp <br />would be no conflict of interest if Mr. Chenoweth is appointed. Council- APPOINTED TO <br />member Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Ciernia, that Phil Chenoweth, PLANNING <br />1426 West Larpenteur, be appointed to the Planning Commission. Motion COMMISSION <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />
