I~ffNUTES ~ 45 <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL M~'ETING <br />OCTOBER 27, 1982 <br />PAGE 5 <br />Councilmember Ciernia informed Council that the Falconeers Senior Club CLERK ADivIIN, <br />would like to purchase tables for their use at the Community Center. TO CHECK INT <br />Clerk Administrator Barnnes stated he felt it would be an advantage to COST OF <br />purchase tables that are of good quality in order that they may be used TABLES FOR <br />for all occasions. Council concurred that if the tables were to be MEETING ROOM <br />used for all occasions that the Falconeers should not be required to <br />pay the entire cost. The Clerk Administrator was authorized to contact <br />suppliers for prices for twelve tables. <br />Councilmember Chestovich reported that she had checked with several organi- FALCON HGTS. <br />nations regarding the storage of the Falcon Heights School storage boxes and STORAGE BOXES <br />she was advised that the boxes could not be stored by t hem. Mayor ti'~arkentien TO BE KEPT <br />moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, that the storage boxes be kept in IN COPJL~rtUNITY <br />the Community Center basement area. Motion carried unanimously. BUILDING <br />Councilmember Chestovich stated that she felt when a vacancy occurs on a <br />committee or commission, public notice should be given so that the entire <br />community will be aware and become more involved. Following a discussion, <br />Councilmember Chestovich moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, that <br />any future appointments be made by the Council as a whole, that the City <br />vigorously advertise for candidates, and that the Council Liaison to the <br />committee or commission inform the Council Newsletter editor when vacancies <br />occur. Motion carried unanimously. <br />GUIDELIPIES <br />FOR <br />COiUCt1ITTEE / <br />COr~SSION <br />APPOINTMENTS <br />APPROVED <br />Councilmember Chestovich moved, seconded by Councilmember Ciernia, that <br />the Mayor submit three names (when practical and reasonable) for Council <br />approval of appointments of committee% cmmission members. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Eggert inquired as to whether or not the City incurs any SIREN <br />liability in the event of a disaster due to the fact that it does not DISCUSSION <br />have a siren, to which Attorney Swanson replied that it did not but there <br />is no wet°y to give a conclusive answer but one based on experience only, <br />and the City would not be held liable for the lack of a siren. He stated <br />he knows of no cases where the issue arose. <br />Councilmember Larson advised that the Fire/Resclie is having difficulty in <br />driving out of the Community Building onto Larpenteur because their view <br />is obstructed by trees and traffic is not stopping until they hear <br />a siren. She felt a siren would help. <br />Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Mayor UJarkentien, that the meeting t.40TI0N TO <br />be continued until 11:15 P.M. Upon a vote being taken, the following EXTEND M_EET- <br />voted in favor thereof: Mayor i"~'arkentien, Councilmembers Larson, Ciernia ING <br />and Chestovich and the following voted against the same: Councilmember DEFEATED <br />Eggert. Motion defeated. <br /> <br />
