MINUTES • ; ;~ <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />AUGUST 10, 1983 <br />PAGE 4 <br />FALCON <br />Mayor Warkentien referred to a letter dated August 8, 1983 from HEIGHTS <br />Lowell J. Anderson of the Falcon Heights Pharmacy indicating they PHARMACY SIDE <br />are planning a sidewalk sale for August 25th and 26th. WALK SALE <br />NOTED <br />Mayor Warkentien also referred to a letter dated August 10, 1983 <br />from Bonestroo and Associates regarding the site distance problem MODER TREE <br />at the intersection of Prior and Larpenteur (the trees on the Moder PROBLEM <br />property) which will be given to the City Horticulturist for GIVEN TO CITY <br />implementation. HORTICULTURIS <br />Steve Hard, Chairman of the Park and Recreation Commission, reviewed STEVE HARD <br />the proposed recreation budget. He advised that in a survey done by PARK & REC. <br />the Commission, residents commented on the poor condition of the ice PRESENTS <br />on the skating rinks and that the Commission felt the line item for REQUEST FOR <br />winter employees should be increased by $600.00 in order that the INCREASE IN <br />rink attendants may do the flooding rather than volunteers. He SOME <br />also recommended that $1,000 be added to the line item for summer BUDGET <br />employees in the event there is no CETA employee available next ITEMS <br />year and the possibility that there might be more children enrolled <br />in the program requiring more personnel. The Commission also felt <br />a need for an additional $200 for printing and publishing in order <br />to provide better communication to residents regarding available <br />activities. <br />HANS <br />Hans Schirrmeister, 1779 Tatum, was in attendance to express his SCHIRRMEISTER <br />concern that the east pond on the Good Value development is too 1779 TATUM <br />close to the property line. Engineer Schunicht explained that the COMMENTS ON <br />pond is located entirely on Good Value property and is located close GOOD VALUE <br />to the property line. The manner in which the pond is constructed POND <br />with a gentle slope made it necessary to place it close to the <br />property line and he assured Mr. Schirrmeister that no runoff water <br />will go onto Tatum property. <br />ATTORNEY TO <br />Mayor Warkentien requested the City Attorney review the ordinances RESEARCH <br />regarding whether hedges are included within the same height LIMIT ON <br />restrictions as fences. HEDGE <br />HEIGHTS <br />Councilmember Eggert expressed concern that the resident on the <br />corner of Simpson and Roselawn has been placing cinder blocks in BLOCKS IN <br />the street in an attempt to keep the transit bus from coming STREET AT <br />close to the curb. He felt this was dangerous and could cause ROSELAWN & <br />accidents. The Clerk Administrator will attempt to resolve the SIMPSON <br />situation. <br />Councilmember Ciernia moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert, that ADJOURNMENT <br />the meeting be adjourned at 9:10 P.M.
