MINUTES <br />R~7GULAR CITY COUI~IL MEFTI1dCr <br />OCTOBER 12, 1963 ~ <br />PAGE 3 <br />LICENSE TO <br />Mayor Warkentien presented an application for corporate license from SELL XMAS <br />Elaine Christiansen, 1T2~t Holton, to sell Christmas trees on their TREES AT <br />lawn, and explained that the neighbors in the area had signed a state- 172l~ HOLTON <br />meat that they do not ob3ect to the sale of trees at 172~t Holton. (ELAINE <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Council.member Chestovich that CHRISTIANSEN <br />the license be approved. Motion carried unanimously. RESIDENCE) <br />APPROVED <br />Councilmember Chestovich moved, seconded by Councilmeanber Eggert, that JUDGES FOR <br />the Election Judges for the November 8, 1983 City Election be approved 11/8/83 CITY <br />as presented. Motion carried unanimously. ELECTION <br />APPROVED <br />Mayor Warke~ntien presented a request from Ben Kuefler, a member of REQUEST THAT <br />Como Park Lutheran Church, requesting that Albert Street be posted ALBERT ST. <br />"No Parking F.4ccept Sundays" instead of "No Parking Anytime" due to BE POSTED <br />fact that the church needs additional parking. Following a discussion "NO PARKING <br />regarding the narrow width of the street and the fact that it is a EXCEPT <br />I~nnesota State Aid Street and "No Parking Anytime" is requested by SUNDAY" <br />the State, Councilmember Cheatovich moved, seconded by Councilmember DENIED <br />Eggert, that the request be de~ni.ed. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Engineer Schunicht advised Council that seven lots on the west side DISCUSSION <br />of Snelling from the Hermes property to Garden Avenue do not have EXTENSION <br />City water and since the Department of Transportation will be up- OF WATER <br />grading Snelling Avenue in 1985 or 1986, the water could be installed LINE ON <br />in conjunction with the Snelling improvements. He estimated that the SHELLING <br />project would cost approximately $36,000 and could be assessed at <br />$25.00 to $35.00 per foot. Councilmember Ciernia asked what obligation <br />The City has to provide afresh water supply to its residents and <br />Attorney Van de North replied that the City has no obligation if the <br />wells fail from natural causes and old age. After further discussion, <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmeanber Eggert, that a <br />letter be drafted by the Engineer and mailed to the residents affected, <br />requesting written input from those residents. Motion carried unani- <br />mously. <br /> PARTIAL PAY- <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilme¢nber Eggert, approval of MENT TO <br />partial payment for base, curb and gutter to Austin Keller Construction AUSTIN <br />Company in the amount of $59,360.51. Motion carried unanimously. KELLER <br /> APPROVED <br />Attorney Van de North reviewed his researching of OSHA regulations <br />regarding safety measures in the Fire Department Bose Tower and HOSE TOWER <br />has concluded that OSHA regulations do not require a cage and the SAFETY <br />City insurance carrier cannot require it in order to assure that the MEASURES <br />insurance coverage could be in effect. UPDATE <br />Councilmeinber Larson informed Council that Fire Chief Renchin is FIRE CHIEF' <br />concerned regarding the parking at Falcon Heights Schaol. He has CONCERNS <br />observed cars blocking the west door which leads to the boiler room REGARDING <br />and parked in front of the school in the Fire Lane which is painted FIRE LANES <br />yellow. Council recommended that Chief Renchin contact Jim Klassen AT FALCON <br />Director of Community Services, regarding placeanent of "Fire Lame" HEIGHTS <br />signs. SCHOOL <br />
