MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JANUARY 11, 1978 <br />Page 5 <br />Councilman Black moved, seconded by Councilman Steele <br />to appoint Larry Squires as Building Inspector for 1978. <br />Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "aye": <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough, Steele <br />and Brown. The following voted "nay": None. Motion <br />carried. <br />Councilman Steele moved, seconded by Councilman Black <br />to appoint Dr. David French as City Horticulturist for <br />1978. Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough, Steele <br />and Brown. The following voted "nay": None. Motion <br />carried. <br />5 <br />APPOINTMENT OF <br />BUILDING <br />INSPECTOR <br />HORTICULTURIST <br />APPOINTMENT <br />Councilman McGough moved, seconded by Councilman Steele APPOINTMENT OF <br />to appoint Robert Clauson as Electrical Inspector for ELECTRICAL <br />1978. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted INSPECTOR <br />"aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough, <br />Steele and Brown. The following voted "nay": None. <br />Motion carried. <br />Appointment to the Board of Health was held over <br />pending contacting the proposed appointees. <br />Council suggested appointments to the Human Rights <br />Commission be held over to the January 25, 1978 <br />meeting. <br />Council has deferred appointments to the Planning <br />Commission to the January 25, 1978 meeting. <br />Councilman Steele moved, seconded by Councilperson <br />Brown to appoint Mayor Willis C.A. Warkentien to the <br />Board of Directors, N.W. Suburban Youth Service Bureau <br />for 1978-1979. Upon a vote being taken, the following <br />voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, <br />McGough, Steele and Brown. The following voted "nay": <br />None. Motion carried. <br />Attorney Kenefick informed council that per diem was <br />not permitted for council members under state statute. <br />He informed them they were entitled to expense incured <br />by them in an official capacity. He further informed <br />them that state statutes stipulate they could not <br />institute a salary increase for Councilmembers at this <br />time, but in the future could pass a resolution prior <br />to the next city election which would be in 1979 and the <br />salary could not go into effect until January 1980. <br />It was decided to bring the matter up for discussion in <br />March 1979. <br />BOARD OF HEALTH <br />APPOINTMENT <br />HUMAN RIGHTS <br />APPOINTMENTS <br />PLANNING <br />COMMISSION <br />APPOINTMENTS <br />APPOINTMENT <br />N.W.
