Moved by Councilman Black, seconded by Councilman McGough to authorize Clerk Administrator Barnes to execute the grant application which provides a por- tion of the fees to prepare a comprehensive plan required under state law. Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Council- members Black~McGough, Steele and Brown and the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. Mayor Warkentien read a letter received from Ms Rae Kellgren requesting use of the council chambers for an Independent Republican Precinct Caucus. Moved by Mayor Warkentien, seconded by Councilman McGough to authorize the use of the council chambers on February 28, 1978, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for the Independent Republican Caucus. Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough, Steele and Brown, the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. Clerk Administrator Barnes gave Fire Chief RenGhin's annual report for 1977. There were 119 fire dept. calls of which 85 were for rescue and 34 fire calls and the estimated loses were under $10,000 for the year which includes smoke damage and property damage. There are currently 26 members in the department and presently 2 new canidates are being considered. The fire department has established a one year probation period for all new members.
