MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING . 8 <br />JANUARY 25, 1978 <br />A regular meeting of the Falcon Heights city council was <br />called to order by Mayor Warkentien at 7:30 p.m. <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough, Steele PRESENT <br />and Brown. Also present were Clerk Administrator Barnes, <br />and Attorney Kenefick. <br />None. ABSENT <br />Councilman McGough moved, seconded by Councilman Black CONSENT <br />to approve the Consent Agenda as follows: AGENDA <br />1. Fire Reports 001 and 002 <br />2. General Disbursements in the amount of $42,832.80 <br />3. Liquor Disbusements in the amount of $30,748.39 <br />4. General Payroll in the amount of: $ 3,756.11 <br />1/1/78 to 1/15/78 <br />5. Liquor Payroll in the amount of: $ 1,969.30 <br />1/1/78 to 1/15/78 <br />6. Sheriff Report for December 1977 <br />1 <br />Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough, Steele and <br />Brown, the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Steele moved, seconded by Councilperson Brown MINUTES OF <br />to approve the minutes of January 11, 1978. Upon a vote JANUARY <br />being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, 11, 1978 <br />Councilmembers Black, McGough, Steele and Brown the following <br />voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Phil Chenoweth, chairman of the Human Rights Commission <br />reported the commission held a joint meeting with New <br />Brighton, Falcon Heights, Roseville and Arden Hills and <br />was pleased to note a very high attendance. The meeting <br />was held to exchange ideas and issues of the various <br />communities. Mr. Chenoweth passed out to council copies <br />of the Minnesota Human Rights Act. The Human Rights <br />Commission is concerned about the section 8 housing and <br />will monitor developments closely on the following items: <br />The following were concerns of the council: <br />HUMAN RIGHTS <br />PHIL <br />CHENOWETH <br />CONSENSUS <br />DOCUMENT <br />1. To investigate Section 8 relative to rent assistance <br />to determine whether applicants were being treated <br />equal. i.e. Senior Citizens versus low income <br />younger families. <br />LJ <br />2. A review of rent assistance per Secion 8 will be <br />reviewed by council ire May, 1978 to determine <br />whether the city should continue in the program. <br />The Human Rights Commission is concerned and want <br />input into the review. <br />
