MINUTES <br />REGt~LAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />AUGUST 23, 1978 <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />~,. <br />is a ditch arxi culvert on the west side of their home and they <br />would like to remove the culverts and fill in the ditch. If <br />the request is granted Mr. Meyer, it would provide a location <br />for the dirt removed from the park area set aaide for the healing <br />in of trees. Request granted. <br />Councilmember Brown stated she had received three printing cost <br />bids for the printing of 2,500 newsletters. The prices do not <br />include t~-pi~ng, mailing or delivery. For 2,500 newsletters Malone <br />Graphics quoted $157,00, E. W. Honza - $99.75, colored would be <br />~5 to $10 more, Midwest Quick Print quoted $92.50. Councilmember <br />Brown stated she would pull it together, however, someone else <br />would have to do the typing. Publishing was scheduled for January, <br />1979. <br />Councilmember Steele discussed with Council suggestiona made by the <br />Park Development Committee. Attorney Kenefick was questioned as to <br />legalities pertaining to citizens being asked to set up a small <br />trust account for Park Development, also, what liability insurance <br />coverage would be needed in the event a wading pool is installed in <br />the park. Attorney Kenefick stated-that the City's present insurance <br />policy would cover any liabilities. Also, Councilmember Steele <br />questioned whether we are obligated to install special equipment for <br />the handicapped in our parks and access to the park building. <br />Engineer Lemberg was requested to check on building accessability. <br />Beep-ball teams are now using the park during the summer. Attorney <br />Kenefick will check probate laws regarding trust funds for Park <br />Development. <br />~~ <br />TATUM STREET <br />CULVERT {cont.) <br />~~~ 7~~ <br />PARK DEVELOPMENT <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes requested Council set a public hearing DELINQUENT <br />for delinquent sanitary sewer charges on September 27, 1978 at SANITARY BEWER <br />B:OO P.M.. Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember H1ack. <br />Upon a vote being taken the Following voted Faye": Mayor Warkentien, <br />Gouncilmembers Black, McGough, Steele and Brown and the following <br />voted "nay:: None. Motion carried. <br />Clerk :Administrator Barnes reported the City of Falcon Heights was <br />re3ected for the application of a Sma11 Cities Grant to help in our <br />storm sewer program. The City's qualification was not high enough, <br />it was 29th on the list. <br />Tabled to Member 13, 1978.. <br />Mayor Warkentien read a notice from AMM regarding the Dept. of <br />Human Resources. They will continue for another year worki.og with <br />the Metro Council on reducing the cost of housing through $oning, <br />by proposing smaller lots. <br />Mayor Warkentien read a letter fr <br />regarding the noon and 9:00 p.m. f <br />that the siren be discontinued. C <br />the siren is tested twice a day to <br />fire and rescue. After discussion <br />continue the siren at noon and 9: <br />om Lee Carlson, 1726 Fry Street <br />ire siren.
