MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 13, 1978 <br />Mrs. Darlene Heinel and guest, representing the St. Paul area Beep- <br />ball teams appeared before council. Mrs. Heinel showed a short film <br />presentation explaining the regulations in beep-ball for the blind. As <br />explained in the fi1w, the beep-ball teams use only the outfield and <br />utilize only two bases. The St. Paul teams, "Bats" and "Gorillas", use <br />Falcon Woods Park as it is best suited for their needs. It is in a quiet <br />area and easily accessable by all teams and well cared for. The St. Paul <br />teams are sponsored by the Telephone Pioneer Group and this year they <br />came in second in the State playoffs. They will now go to Phoenix, <br />Arizona for the Nationals in October. Before they go, they would like to <br />play one more game and challenged the Councilmembers. The challenge was <br />accepted by the Councilmembers and Clerk Administrator Barnes was re- <br />quested to work out a date. Councilmember Steele questioned if there <br />was agything the City could do for the beep-ball teams that is not being <br />done now. Also, it was suggested that bleachers be installed at Falcon <br />Woods, would the teams utilize them? Mrs. Heinel stated that Falcon <br />Woods Park is well cared for And the best field they have found. The <br />bleachers would be utilized if they were portable, they do have to be <br />moved to the outfield for their use. Mayor Warkentien thanked Mrs. <br />Heinel and stated he was looking forward to the coming game. <br />~~~ <br />A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Falcon Heights was <br />called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Mayor Warkentien, all were present. <br />Mayor Warkentien questioned Fire Chief Renchin regarding a rescue squad RESCUE SQUAD <br />call and transport of a patient from the GTA. Fire Chief Renchin re- REPORT #84 <br />ported a problettn arose when the Ramsey County Deputy on duty ob~ecthd <br />to a member of our rescue squad accompar~i.ng the patient to St. Paul <br />Ramsey Hospital. Rescue Squad Captain Iverson did accompar-y the patient <br />during transport. <br />Gouncilmember Black moved, seconded by Councilmember Brown to approve <br />the Consent Agenda as follows: <br />1. Motion carried. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilme-mber McGough to approve MINUTES OF <br />the minutes of August 23, 1978 as amended. Upon a vote being taken the AUGUST 23, <br />following voted "aye:: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmeunbers Black, McGough, 1978 <br />Steele and Brown, and the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Mayor Warkentien introduced Mr. Todd Lefko, Representative from the TODD LEFKO <br />Metro Council. Mr. Lefko noted there would be additional funding for METRO COUNCIL <br />Falcon Heights comprehensive planning. Council discussed at length <br />with Mr. Lefko, changes in programs that are being initiated for next <br />
