MINUTES <br />Rr;GULAR CITY COUNCIL MgETING <br />oc~nBER 25, 1978 <br />Page Lt <br />He also mentioned that they are in Federal Court and involved in <br />proceedings to determine whether the Coalition has the right to chal- <br />lenge the Job Corps. <br />John Labalestra informed Council and .those in attendance that theq <br />have expended $20,000.00 so far and financing is the current problem <br />and they are soliciting funds to continue their efforts. He also <br />wanted everyone to Imow they are not opposed to Job Corps, but the <br />locat6fon. He also mentioned Job Corps wanted to locate in Hopkins <br />but the city council said ++no++ and that is when Mayor Latimer of <br />St. Paul asked for the Job Corps, <br />i~~ <br />JOHN LABALSSTRA <br />Mayor Warkentien informed those in attendance that the Citq MAYOR WARKENTIEN <br />Attorney rendered an opinion that the Council could not appropriate <br />public funds toward the Coalition+s cause. <br />Mayor Warkentien reported that John Labalestra had been chosen WCCO <br />Good Neighbor of the Day on October 23, 1978. <br />Councilmember ~.ack informed Council that he is in the process 1g7g CITY <br />of reviewing all City insurance policies which expire January 1, INSURANCE <br />1979. He also requested that the Council permit him to negotiate <br />with the current insurance agent for the 1979 gear as in the past <br />we have not been successful, in obtaining more ,than one bidder. <br />Councilmember McGough moved, seconded bq Councilmeiaber Brown to <br />authorize Councilmember Black to negotiate with the current in= <br />surance agent for City insurance for the gear 19?9. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember McGough requested Council to permit him to ride with COUNCILMEMH,'CR <br />the Deputq in the Citq of Falcon Heights in order that he might MCGOI~H TO RIDE <br />familiarise the Deputies and himself on fire and rescue call 2 iiEL+K~ WITH <br />procedures which might be implemented bq Council. DEPjTTIES <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded bq Councilmeaaber 81aek to <br />permit Councilmem~ber Mctiough to ride with the Deputies for a <br />two week period to inform Deputies of the possible implementation <br />of fire and rescue calls. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Ada~i.nistrator Barnes requested Council to authorize ham Dt~ FLYER, <br />to pay the Falcon Heights !Ji group for delivery of the dump Dg,~y <br />flyers, not to exceed $50.00. ELPENDITURT <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded bq Councilmeeaber Black to <br />authorize payment to the Falcon Heights !iH group for delivery <br />of dump flyers, not to exceed $50.00. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Black moved, seconded by Councilmember Brown to FULHAM STREET <br />authorize the Clerk Administrator to write letters to the <br />L <br />d STORM DRAINAGE <br />au <br />erdale City Attorney, John Dean, informing him what wil.]. be ~~y <br />required of Lauderdale to provide the C3.ty of Falcon Heights <br />certain conditions so that they can enter on the vacated ease- <br />ment of eoctended Fulham St. to repair the stoma drainage tile. <br />
