MINUTES <br />REGULAK cITY coUNCU MEETING ~~~ <br />OCTOBER 25, 1978 <br />Page 3 <br />The public was asked for their recommendations and co~mn-ents and REV'ENUT SHARSI~R'r <br />no one ob3ected to the proposed use for policing. (cont.) <br />The Motion was made by Councilme~aber McGough, seconded by <br />Councilmember Black to designate Revenue Sharing Funds for <br />policing services for the year 1979• Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Warkentien ccxenended Councilmembers Brown, McGough and <br />Steele for managing to advise both committees so that they could <br />come up with a workable solution for Recreation and Park Development. <br />James Jernberg, 15~t0 W. Iowa, came before Council and was objecting JAMBS JERNBSRG <br />to the Councils action in retaining funds for the. Fun and Fitness 15lt0 W. IOWA <br />Trail and felt the Covncil should be concerned as to the wishes of <br />the public. He also reviewed the so called Jernberg Plan as listed <br />on the petition. He also mentioned that parents are willing to <br />monitor the rinks. <br />Councilmember Brown informed James Jernberg that the funds were COUI~CUMEMBBR <br />left under Fun and Fitness Trail, but that the Park Development BROWN <br />and Recreation Advisory Committees were going to make a survey <br />and then give Council a further recommendation at which time <br />Council could decide on the use of funds. <br />Janet Brown, 1887 Simpaon requested Council consider having <br />larger pleasure rinks and also requested police stop more often <br />and check the rinks and warming houses to deter vandalism and <br />mischief at the rinks. <br />She also requested the Council set up a group of 8 to 10 to <br />do an in depth door to door survey of the community ,for park <br />development and recreation on a volunteer basis, with the <br />possibility of having one councilmember serve on the committee. <br />Councilme~mber McGough requested Council to defer discussion on <br />the Rescue Scheduling at this time, as he would like to in- <br />vestigate how current procedures could be improved by contacting. <br />other departments and whether the deputy eherift or dispatcher <br />could implement`a program whereby a determination could be made <br />of the type of call thus limiting the service we currently <br />provide. <br />JANET B1~OWN <br />1887 SIl~lP~N <br />RESCUE SCHEDULII~f~ <br />DISCUSSION <br />Councilmeanber McGough also reported that the Fire Chief has in- <br />vestigated the possibility of getting reimbursement for calls <br />on welling Ave., which has been authori$ed under Minnesota statutes <br />as of January 1, 1978 , <br />John Labalestra, ],.l~33 W. California and Dan Carlson, an active JOB CORPS <br />meuaber of the Coalition on Job Corps, which is proposed to be UPDATE <br />located at the old Bethel College site along S'ne1].ing South <br />of Hoyt, appeared before Council to update them on Job Corps. <br />John Labalestra is concerned that the Federal Government has <br />not given them accurate data on Job Corps performance in <br />relationship to its compatability to the caaa~aunity and especially <br />in a residential area. <br />
