Contract for the City of CONTRACT <br />Falcon Heights and invite Captain Spencer of the Sheriff's Dept. and (cont.) <br />the Chief of Police of Roseville to discuss each Department's service <br />and cost. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Black reviewed the Conditional Use Request of Flower <br />City to permit installation of a non-flashing mobile sign in front <br />of their business for the purpose of advertising their products. <br />Dennis Scheer of Flower City was informed the total gross surface <br />of all signs for the business could not exceed 100 square feet <br />and if it did, it would also require a variance as stipulated in <br />Zoning Ordinance #6t~ . <br />Dennis Scheer presented a large photograph of the Flower City Building <br />and indicated the new sign requested would sit behind the cement block <br />adjacent to the right-of-way of Larpenteur Avenue and at a right angle <br />to the bus bench. <br />Councilmember Black moved, seconded 'ay Councilmember McGough, to refer <br />the Flower City Conditional Use Request for a mobile sign to <br />the Planning Commission. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Fred Harvey, representing Hewlett-Packard Company, appeared before <br />council to consider rezoning certain property they are interested in <br />developing.. The land is presently owned and occupied by Hermes Floral <br />Company, 2001 W. Larpenteur Ave., consists of approximately 8 acres <br />and is presently zoned BIA, R3, R2 and R1. Hewlett-Packard is <br />requesting rezoning to BIA. <br />Fred Harvey informed Council the Hewlett-Packard Company is a major <br />designer and manufacturer of electronic instruments and a multi- <br />product type company. This location will serve as a District Sales <br />Office and in-house training. <br />The current building is proposed to be a single story building with <br />X0,000 square feet with the intention of expanding it to 80,000 <br />square feet. Employment to begin with will be approximately 95 <br />employees and within 3 to 5 years an increase of 185 to 200 employees. <br />Pat Dac~y, of Rauenhorst Corporation, reviewed the Survey Site Plan <br />as to location of the building, parking, screening and drainage. <br />He informed Council that fill would have to be brought in to provide <br />drainage towards Larpenteur Ave. to avoid aggravating the drainage <br />to the residential area east of the property. It was suggested a <br />small berm, approximately 3 feet high, be put in place along the <br />residential lots to the east in order that drainage would have to <br />go south. <br />Pat Dady also informed Council that Hermes have maintained control <br />of a 60 foot strip along the west side of the property for access <br />to the land north of the proposed Hewlett-Packard site. <br />FLOWER CITY <br />CONDITIONAL <br />USE MOBILE <br />SIGN <br />HI~~+iZ,ETT- <br />PACKARI) <br />
