SCHWANTES <br />erty was to extend. 1753 LINDIG <br />1 <br /> <br />Mayor Warkentien informed him it would 'oe approximately 300 feet <br />south of the Schirrmeister property where the current drainage <br />easement exists. <br />James Colton, 1760 Tatum, objected to the rezoning as in his opinion <br />it is spot zoning. <br />RESOLUTION 78-2~ <br />Rezoning of Certain Property from <br />R-1, R-2 and R-3 to B-1-A and Amend <br />Zoning Ordinance #6!~ <br />JAMES COLTON <br />2760 TATUM <br />RESOLUTION 78-2l~ <br />REZONING HERMES <br />PROPERTY <br />Councilmember Black moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, to adopt <br />Resolution 7$-2!~ amending Zoning Ordinance #b1~ to rezone certain <br />property located at 2001 W. Larpenteur Ave., said Resolution to in- <br />clude stipulations of the Planning C ommission Meeting of December <br />11, 1978 and Items 1, 3 and 1~ recommended by the City Engineer in <br />his letter dated December l3, 1978. Upon a vote being taken the <br />following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmem'oers Black, McGough, <br />Steele, and Brown and the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Councilmember Black presented the Conditional Use and Variance request CONDITIONAL USE <br />by Amoco Oil Co., 1691 N. Snelling to erect a pylon sign 30 feet high & VARIANCE <br />and 10 feet 6 inches wide at the present location of the existing sign AMOCO OIL CO. <br />at the southeast corner of the property. 1691 N. SHELLING <br />There is also on file a petition signed by l.l.~ business men located <br />in the Hermes Shopping Center indicating their approval of the <br />sign. <br />The Planning Commisssion considered the request on December 11, 1978 <br />and they recommended approval as submitted. <br />It was also noted the Clerk Administrator had written a letter to <br />Amoco requesting they consider reducing the size of the sign to <br />conform with the Zoning Ordinance and there had not been a reply. <br />Carl Kristufek, Special Outlet Coordinator for Amoco Oil Co., <br />appeared before Council requesting the approval of the Conditional <br />Use and Variance. He explained the reasons for changing the type <br />of service Amoco was providing and the need for a large sign due <br />to the flow of traffic and to a survey taken of their customers. <br />He maintains the company found that this metropolitan area popu- <br />lation is more transient than most metropolitan areas. <br />Mr. Kristufek informed Council the sign is already in the metro area <br />for delivery to the site. The sign is 1q0 square feet. <br />Garnet Gallimore, operator of the Amoco station appeared before Council <br />requesting Council to approve the request of Amoco. <br />
