MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />;~ FEBRUARY 28, 1979 <br />Page 2 <br />John Labalestra, ownor of the Lido Caf e, appeared before Council JOHN LABALESTRA <br />requesting that Resolution 79-8 - Fire Lane - No Parking Signs at LIDO CAFE <br />1607 W. Larpenteur - be rescinded. He informed Council that many <br />of his customers and those at Bullseye Golf have received parking <br />tickets due to the new parking regulations. Action was deferred <br />awaiting the arrival of Fire Chief Renchin. <br />Ms. Murgie Sweet, Sales Representative for Sun Directories, MURGIE SWEET <br />appeared before Council requesting approval of a contract to SUN DIRECTORY <br />advertise directory pages for the City of Falcon Heights in <br />the 1979-1980 directory at a cost of $530.00. <br />Councilmember Brown moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele to <br />approve the proposed contract. Upon a vote being taken the <br />following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, <br />Steele and Brown, and the following voted "nay": Councilmember <br />McGough. Motion carried. <br />Engineer Lemberg informed Council of a letter from the University U. OF M. <br />of Minnesota expressing their concern regarding surface drainage DRAINAGE CONCERN <br />on the St. Paul Campous due to the construction of the Hewlett- <br />Packard building. ' <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Council.member Black to authorize <br />Engineer Lemberg to draf t a letter of explanation to the University <br />of Minnesota. The letter is to be presented to Council at the March <br />].L4, 1979 meeting for Council's approval. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Discussion of the increased telephone charges at Falcon Woods Park TELEPHONE C <br />was def erred awaiting further information. F. W. PARK <br />The following citizens, who are concerned about the upgrading of GARDEN AVENUE <br />Garden Avenue, attended the meeting: Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Geer, IMPROVEMENT <br />1803 Pascal, William Brown, 1808 Asbury, Ted Simons, 1811 Pascal, <br />Mrs. Raymond Johnson, 1810 Simpson, Oscar Goedert, 1803 Simpson, <br />Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lamb, 1811 Simpson, and Russell ~3u11, 1810 <br />Arona. Mayor Warkentien invyted twrt~ residents to address Council. <br />Stephen Geer, 1803 Pascal, asked why he was not infor;~od that STEPHEN LEER <br />Garden Avenue was to be widened prior to purchasing his home. Hs 1803 PASCAL <br />strongly objects to the upgrading and widenir~. <br />Clerk Ac~,ministrator Barnes replied that he had been contacted by CLERK ADMINISTRATC <br />Mrs. Geer several times before they moved here and when she re- BARNES <br />quested information on placing the garage and was informed of the <br />zoning ordinance requirements on set back and the possibility of <br />Garden and any other street's needs for improvement. <br />William Brown, 1808 Asbury, representing 16 residents of the Garden WILLIAM BROWN <br />Avenue area, presented a letter prepared at a neighborhood meeting. 1808 ASBURY <br />In the letter the residents expressed their objection to the widening <br />of Garden Avenue and requested that Council reconsider the proposed <br />36' width. Their suggested solution was a width of 32' with no parking. <br />Councilmember Steele informed those in attendance that he felt the COUNCILMF,.MBF.R, <br />32' width would be acceptable and that Council should attempt to get STEELE <br />approval of the 32' width with no parking. <br />
