MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />FET3~RUARY 2~, 1979 <br />Page 3 <br />~.` <br />Engineer Lemberg informed that the State Highway Department might GARDEN AVENUE <br />object to that plan as the portion of the street improved previously (cont.) <br />is 36' wide. <br />Councilmembor Black moved, seconded by Councilmember McGough that <br />the upgrad_-ing and improvement of Garden Avenue be opened for further <br />consideration. MotS.on carried unanimously. <br />After some discussion Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Council- <br />member Steele to authorize Engineer Lemberg to contact the State <br />Highway Department regarding reducing the width of Garden Avenue <br />from 36' to 32' with no parking. If the Highway Dep::.rtment doss not <br />approve t,h,e 32' width, Gordon Avenue will be widened to 36' ~rithout <br />further consideration. Upon a vote being taken the following voted <br />"ayes': Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Blaclc, McGough and Brown, <br />and the following vet©d '!nay": Councilmernber Steele. Motion carried. <br />William Brown requested that the concerned residents be advised if <br />the 32' ~~ridth is not approved in order that the group might contact <br />the Department of Ts~ansportation. <br />Robert Lamb, 1811 Simpson inquired as to whether there are ar~y plans <br />t;o change the stop signs on Garden Avenue. <br />Mayor Warkentien advised that he would like to have the signs <br />r~noved from Asbury and Garden, and Simpson and Garden, with a sign <br />p7.aced at Arena and Garden. <br />WILLIAM BROWN <br />ROBERT LAMB <br />1811 SIMPSON <br />MAYOR WARKENTI: <br />Councilmember Steele advised that ha would pref er all stop signs COUNCILMEMBER <br />remain in the present locations. STEELS <br />Cler~C Administrator Barnes reported on his letter to Rose~rllle on STREET <br />the street lighting situation on Roselawn Avenue and infor!ned LIGHTING ON <br />Council that Roseville's proposition was that if we would participate ROSEi~AWN AVE. <br />in a total of 23 lights, they would consider this joint proposal to <br />turn on all lights which were turned off by Ramsey County. This would <br />mean that the City of Falcon Heights would asswns ~ the cost of the <br />23 lights in lieu o;P the 7 lights that were turned off by the City <br />of Falcon Heights. The Clerk Administrator felt that the City of <br />Falcon Heights assuming the cost of turning on the 7 lights on <br />R6selawn Avenue between Snelling and Hamlin© to be more equitab7_e. <br />Cbuncilmember Steele moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, that the <br />City of Falcon Heights turn on the 7 lights botweeri Snelling and <br />Hemline on Roselawn. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes explained the revised Comprehensive RESOLUTION <br />Planning k~~.nding Contract for a total of $~,1~?~~.00. Couz~ci•1- 79-10 <br />member Black moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele to adopt <br />Resolution 79-10. <br />
