;fir ~~'JI'ES <br />iu1GUyAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />~ 3 FF~RUAR(' 28, 1979 <br />Page ~ <br />RESOLUTION 79-10 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL <br />TO ACCEPT Z~ COMNRJNITY GRE~3T APPLICATION PROVIDED <br />UI~IDER 'THE METROPOLITAN LAND PLANNING ACT (ADDITIONAL <br />FUNDING) <br />Upon a vote being t~~.kcn the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, <br />Councilmombers Black, McGough, Steele and Brown, and the following <br />voted "Nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Upon the arrival of Fire Chief Jerry Renchin the subject of the "No <br />Parking -Fire Lane" signs at 1607 W. Larpenteur was again presented. <br />RESOLUTION <br />"l9 -10 <br />NO PARKING <br />FIRE LANE <br />DISCUSSION <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Black, .that Resolution <br />79-8 - No Parking -Fire Lane at 1607 W. Larpenteur be reconsidered at <br />this tim©. Upon a vote being taken tho following voted "aye": Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmembers Black, McGough and Brown, and the following <br />vo~4;~~d "nay": None. Councilmember Steele abstained. Motion carried. <br />Fire Chief Renchin appeared before Council regarding the problem of FIRE CHIEF <br />the "No Parking -Fire Lane" signs. At this time the no parking lane RENCHIN <br />is next to the building. He stated he would have no objection to the <br />fire lane in another area pr~r,tri ding there is ample spaco for emergency <br />vehicles to pass through. <br />John Labalestra informod Council that he feels the present parking <br />arrangement is not practical. Other buildings in Falcon Heights <br />have parking next to buildings and customers are accustomed to this <br />parking arrangement. He also stressed there would be a lack of <br />parking space if all buildings had "No Parking -Fire Lane" next <br />to the buildings. Mr. Labalestra presented a plan providing <br />parking next to buildings and alor~ the street side, leaving the <br />center lanes open. <br />Fire Chi of w~:chin indicated he would approve of this plan. He <br />suggested temporarily placing sawhorses with "No Parking" signs <br />in the px~esert fire lane to prohibit parking . <br />Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele, <br />that the temporary fire lane, as designated by Fire Chief Renchin, <br />be established and consideration of a permanent lane will be <br />discussed at the March 11~, 1979 Council Meeting in order that the <br />owners of the Hermes Shopping Center could be made aware of the <br />proposed changes. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed that he had called Indianh.ead <br />Council, Boy Scouts of America and their insurance company will <br />send an endorsement naming the City of Falcon Heights on the policy. <br />Councilmember Steele advised Council that the Park and Playground <br />Development Committee is attempting to deve7_op a means of funding <br />for park development. The Committee would like to organize a group <br />to go door to door, distribute flyers, and solicit funds. They plan <br />to use the funds primarily for trees for the park.
