It was suggested that a live <br />band be hired for dancing on the old tennis courts. Councilmember Brown <br />moved, seconded by Councilmember Kurpiewski, to authorize the employment <br />of a live band at the cost of approxim`_tely $200.00, the amount to be , <br />taken from the Treasurer's Cash Balance. Motion carried unan-?_~nously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes requested authorization to buy a used USED GRAPHOTYPE <br />Graphotype at a cost of $675.00. This machine would allow addresso- MACHINE TO BE <br />graph plates to be changed in the City Office rather than sending PURCHASED FOR <br />them downtown where the changes cost apprr•-~i:nately 90G each. Mayor CITY OFFICE <br />Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Kurpiewski, that the <br />Clerk Administrator be authorized to purchase a used Graphotype machine <br />at a cost of $675.00, to be purchased with funds from the Sanitary <br />Sewer Fund. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Kurpiewski suggested that the Mayor or Clerk Adminstator NEW SIGNS FOR <br />contact the Governor requesting a Falcon Heights Recognition FALCON HEIGHTS <br />Day during the Minnesota State Fair. There was also discussion re- CITY LIMITS <br />garding the signs at the Falcon Heights City limits. Councilmember <br />Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Kurpiewski, to change the <br />signs on the principal streets entering the City of Falcon Heights <br />to incorporate the fact that the City is the home of the Minnesota <br />State Fair and the University of Minnesota Institute of Agriculture. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes presented Council a letter from the Ramsey SHERIFF'S DEPT. <br />County Sheriff's Department informing that the 20~ per mile charged PROPOSED COST <br />to contractual cities is not sufficient at today's gasoline prices, INCREASES <br />and that effective zly 1, 1979 the cost per mile will be 23~. He <br />also received a letter {,- -, the Sherif_f's Department advising that <br />the Department anticipates adding additional employees to the staff <br />raising the total to 15, and want contractual cities to cover the <br />cost in excess of ~ employees. !~'ouncil directec the Clerk Admini- <br />strator to read the City`s contract with the Ramsey County Sheriff's <br />Department and contact the Sheriff's Department for more information. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes reported that of the 245 trees ordered for 1979 TREE PLANT- <br />1979, 12.9 were planted on boulevards; 53 planted in the park for a ING ::':~"ART <br />total of 1~~2. plantec'. and two are missing, leaving 61 remaining. <br />Councilmember Steele requested further information from Ramsey County BREAK-IN <br />Sheriff's Department regarding break-~_ns in Falcon Heights.
