n <br />MINUTES <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JUNE 26, 1979 <br />Page 8 <br />Councilmember Brown requested that news items be given to her by July 5, <br />1979 as the quarterly newsletter will be assembled at that time. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes read a request from Joelle Runkle, 1498 W. <br />California, to close one block of California from Arona to Pascal, on <br />July 8, .1.979 from 4-9 p.m. for a block party. Councilmember McGough <br />moved, seconded by Councilmember Kurpiewski to allow the residents of <br />that areal to close California from Arona to Pascal, July 8, 1979, from <br />4-9 p.m. for. a block party. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Attorney Kenefick presented for Council's approval Ordinance 4164, <br />prohibiting, drinking in parking lots and public places. <br />ORDINANCE 4t 164 <br />AN OIDINANCE PP~OHIBITING THE CONSUMPTION OR DISPLAY OF <br />IN'COXICATING LIQUOR OR NON-INTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR IN PUBLIC <br />OP. I'ALCON HEIGHTS <br />n <br />u <br /> <br />Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Kurpiewski, that <br />Ordinance 41164 be adopted. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Attorney Kenefick also presented a proposed ordinance to update the <br />existing animal control ordinance. Council requested that Attorney <br />Kenefick rewrite the ordinance to be considered at a later meeting. <br />r' <br />c.~ <br />ORDINANCE 164 <br />PROHIBITING <br />DRINKING IN <br />PARKING LOTS <br />Mayor Warkentien read to Council a letter of resignation from Council- COUNCILMEMBER <br />member Kurpiewski, who is moving out of the community. Mayor Warkentien KURPIEWSKI <br />moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele, to accept the resignation as of RESIGNS <br />June 30, 1979. Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmembers McGough, Steele and Brown, and the following <br />voted "nay": None. Councilmember Kurpiewski abstained. Motion. carried... <br />Councilmember Steele informed that, in his opinion, the vacancy created <br />should be filled by a representative of Precinct 2 and that the individual <br />should be some one who is not intending to seek office in the November <br />election. Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, <br />that Charles P. Stone, 1375 W. Idaho, be appointed Councilmember to fill <br />the vacancy caused by Councilmember Kurpiewski's resignation. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Councilmember Kurpiewski, to <br />extend the meeting to 11:15 p.m. <br />Councilmember McGough informed Council that Lido Cafe is interested in <br />moving and would like to build a new building to be financed by in- <br />dustrial revenue bonds. The property to be used would also require <br />rezoning. - , <br />_. __-_ <br />Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember McGough, that <br />upon receipt of the request of rezoning the matter be referred to the <br />Planning Commission.
