Clerk Administrator Barnes read a request from Joelle Runkle, 1498 W. California, to close one block of California from Arona to Pascal, on July 8, .1.979 from 4-9 p.m. for a block party. Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Councilmember Kurpiewski to allow the residents of that areal to close California from Arona to Pascal, July 8, 1979, from 4-9 p.m. for. a block party. Motion carried unanimously. Attorney Kenefick presented for Council's approval Ordinance 4164, prohibiting, drinking in parking lots and public places. Motion carried unanimously. Attorney Kenefick also presented a proposed ordinance to update the existing animal control ordinance. Council requested that Attorney Kenefick rewrite the ordinance to be considered at a later meeting. r' c.~ ORDINANCE 164 PROHIBITING DRINKING IN PARKING LOTS Mayor Warkentien read to Council a letter of resignation from Council- COUNCILMEMBER member Kurpiewski, who is moving out of the community. Mayor Warkentien KURPIEWSKI moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele, to accept the resignation as of RESIGNS June 30, 1979. Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers McGough, Steele and Brown, and the following voted "nay": None. Councilmember Kurpiewski abstained. Motion. carried... Councilmember Steele informed that, in his opinion, the vacancy created should be filled by a representative of Precinct 2 and that the individual should be some one who is not intending to seek office in the November election. Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, that Charles P. Stone, 1375 W. Idaho, be appointed Councilmember to fill the vacancy caused by Councilmember Kurpiewski's resignation. Motion carried unanimously. Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Councilmember Kurpiewski, to extend the meeting to 11:15 p.m. Councilmember McGough informed Council that Lido Cafe is interested in moving and would like to build a new building to be financed by in- dustrial revenue bonds. The property to be used would also require rezoning. - , _. __-_ Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember McGough, that upon receipt of the request of rezoning the matter be referred to the Planning Commission.
