MINUTES C AA <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING V`~ <br />JUNE 26, 1979 <br />Page 7 <br />Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, to reconsider FIRE LANE <br />the Firelane location at 1607 W. Larpenteur. Upon a vote being taken (cont.) <br />the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Kurpiewski, <br />Steele and Brown, and the following voted "nay": Councilmember McGough. <br />Motion carried. <br />After a discussion by Council, Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by <br />Councilmember Kurpiewski, that the lane could be placed as was originally <br />planned, next to the Bullseye Golf Building and along Larpenteur Ave. with <br />the following exceptions: <br />1. That the two northwest and southwest parking spaces be eliminated. <br />2. That the signs posted on the building be relocated at a more visable <br />height for motorists and possibly more signs. <br />3. That at a future date the possibility of closing off the entrance <br />located on the south portion of Lot 11 of the Crossroads (which is <br />an easement) be considered. <br />Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Council- <br />members Kurpiewski, Steele and Brown and the following voted "nay": Council- <br />member McGough. Motion carried. <br />Bill Huebsch, 1494 Iowa Avenue, who works with the Youth Hockey Program, ICE TIME TO <br />requested permission for Clerk Administrator Barnes to request ice time BE REQUESTED <br />at the Oscar Johnson Arena for the 1979-1980 season. Councilmember Brown <br />moved, seconded by Councilmember Kurpiewski, to authorize the Clerk Admini~ <br />strator to request 28 hours ice time at Oscar Johnson Arena. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Ramsey County Sheriff, Charles Zacharias, addressed Council explaining that RAMSEY COUNTY <br />due to increased gasoline costs it is necessary to charge contractual cities SHERIFF <br />23~ per mile rather than 20~ as was stated in the contract. Sheriff ZACHARIAS <br />L~-~harias feels the increase is justified and is not in conflict with the <br />contract. Council felt the proposed increase would be in conflict with <br />the contract and that if this increase is allowed, futher increases might <br />follow. <br />Attorney Kenefick informed Council .the prices set forth in the contract are <br />to remain as is until the end of the year, when the contract can then be <br />re-negotiated. The matter was deferred until the July 11, 1979 meetinry in <br />order that Attorney Kenefick might further investigate the contract and also <br />to contact the Ramsey County Attorney. <br />Councilmember McGough requested the Sheriff's Department provide the City with <br />a more detailed description of the police activity in Falcon Heights. Sheriff <br />7..ackarias agreed to provide the City with the requested information. <br />Clerk Acl~r~inistrator Barnes requested permission to sell 50' of 12" used fire USED FIRE HOSE <br />hose. Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Councilmember Kurpiewski, to SOLD <br />authorir~.~ the Clerk Administrator to sell 50' of 12" used fire hose to Larson <br />Construct:i_on. Co. at a price of $20.00. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes brought Council up to date on the retirement of GEORGE <br />George tn'i_I_lkom, Liquor Store Manager. Attorney Kenefick recommended that a WILLKOM <br />meting '~e 'field to draft a contract in order that Mr. Willkom can work on a RETIREMEN' <br />consult7.nf, basis. <br />
