MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING 8 <br />OCTOfsER 10, 1979 <br />PAGE 2 <br />FurtE-er discussion was held regarding the mileage cost stipulated in POLICING <br />the contract (25fi per mile) and whether or not the mileage could be (cont.) <br />increased during the year as was done in 1979. The matter was de- <br />ferred until the meeting of November 14, 1979 in order that there <br />would be time to contact the City of Arden Hills to inquire if that <br />Council had acted upon the possibility of sharing one shift per day <br />with Falcon Heights, thus reducing policing costs. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes presented to Council two proposals for RAMS.$Y COUNTY <br />snow plowing and sanding for the 1979-1980 winter season. (Ramsey TO DO PLOWING <br />County and Fred Keller Co.) Mayor Warkentien moved seconded by AND SANDING <br />Councilmember Steele that Clerk Administrator Barnes be authorized 1979-1980 <br />to contact Ramsey County and request that the Ramsey County High- WINTER SEASON <br />way Department provide snow plowing and sanding services for the <br />City of Falcon Heights for the 1979-1980 winter season. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Engineer Lemberg informed Council that he had met with Clerk Admini- TATUM STREET <br />strator Barnes and Marvin Kotilinek of the Ramsey County Engineering DRAINAGE <br />Department, to examine the Tatum Street drainage problem. The group PROBLEM <br />agreed that without a storm sewer in that area nothing could be done <br />to prevent the flooding of the residents' back yards. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes reported that Ramsey County had approved MEDIAN CUT <br />the request from Don Hermes to make a median cut at 1750 W. Larpenteur, 1750 WEST <br />the cost of the construction to be borne by Mr. Hermes. LARPENTEUR <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed that he had been contacted by <br />E11en hunter, representing International Systems, Inc. of Atlanta, <br />Georgia, inquiring as to whether or not Council had reached a <br />decision regarding the hiring of the firm to attempt to obtain <br />grants for the City of Falcon Heights <br />Upon discussing ttie matter, Council decided that as there are local <br />firms and agencies doing grant research it might be best to check <br />into those possibilities. Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by <br />Councilmember Stone that the proposed contract with International <br />Systems, Inc. be rejected. Upon a vote being taken the following <br />voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Steele, Brown and <br />Stone, and the following voted "nay": None. Councilmember McGough <br />abstained. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Engineer Lemberg informed that his firm, Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik <br />and Associates, Inc., has two grants persons in that office and it <br />would be possible for them to make a list of grants available in <br />Minnesota at this ticne. Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Council- <br />member Steele, that Bonestroo, Kosene., Anderlik and Associates, Inc. <br />be directed to advise the City of Falcon Heights of any available <br />grants. Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmembers Steele, Brown and Stone, and the following <br />voted "nay": None. Councilmember McGough abstained.
