MINUTEs <br />RL:csULAR ~;ITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />ocTOBER 10, 1979 <br />PAGi 3 <br />Attorney Ron Abrahams, of the firm of Briggs and Morgan, presented <br />to Council information regarding cable television and gave an out- <br />line of procedures involved in implementing cable television. <br />Engineer Lemberg informed that the Garden Avenue project is near <br />completion and that the sodding will be done soon. He also indicated <br />that he felt the construction was well done. <br />Robert Lamb and Bill Brown, residents living near Garden Avenue. <br />addressed Council requesting that all stop signs be revlaced on Garden <br />Avenue as they were previous to the construction project. After <br />some discussion Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Council- <br />member Brown that the stop signs on Garden Avenue be placed as they <br />were previous to the construction. Upon a vote being taken the <br />following voted "aye": Councilmembers Steele and Brown, and the <br />following voted "nay": Mayor Warkentien. Councilmembers McGough <br />and Stone abstained. Motion carried. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes presented to Council a letter from the <br />State of Minnesota inquiring as to the status of the work being <br />done with disaster funds since the completion date for all work <br />under this project is January 7, 1950. This fund in the amount <br />of $4,300.00 was designated to correct the Fulham Street drainage <br />problem. Since it is necessary to cross the property of a Lauderdale <br />resident, and that resident will not grant an easement, it has been <br />impossible to do the necessary work. The City Attorney for Lauderdale <br />had assured some time ago that the matter would be resolved in order <br />to grant access. Councilmember McGough moved, seconded by Mayor <br />Warkentien that Attorney Kenefick be instructed to take legal action <br />against the City of Lauderdale in order to obtain an easement to <br />correct the drainage problem, such action to be left to the discretion <br />of Attorney Kenefick. Upon a vote being taken the following voted <br />"aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers iicGough, Brown and Stone, <br />and the following voted "nay": None. Councilmember Steele abstained. <br />Motion carried. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes noted that the following persons have <br />filed for office for the November 6, 1979 election: <br />Willis C. A. Warkentien Mayor <br />Ronald Eggert Councilmember <br />Leonard Boche Councilmember <br />Sandra Larson Councilmember <br />Mayor Warkentien read a letter from Douglas Lehnen, Manager, Falcon <br />Lanes, asking permission to have a the food and bowling portion of <br />Falcon Lanes open past 1:00 a.m. for a league once a week from 12:40 <br />to 2:40 a.m, with the stipulations that no alcohol will be displayed <br />after 1:00 a.m. and all cars will be parked in the front portion of <br />the parking lot. Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember <br />Stone, that the request. be granted.
