MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />OCTOBER 24, 1979 <br />PAGE 2 <br /> <br />93 <br />Councilmember Steele requested that the body of the resolution show RESOLUTION <br />that the reconstruction of Roselawn is a State Aid Project and Council 79-25 <br />agreed to the correction. Councilmember Stone moved, seconded by (cont.) <br />Councilmember Steele that Resolution 79-25 be adopted. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Councilmember Brown reported on the first meeting of the newly formed <br />Falcon Heights Senior Citizens Club. 36 persons attended and seemed <br />enthusiastic about the Club. <br />Mayor Warkentien presented a request from Fire Chief Jerry Renchin <br />requesting permission to expend Fire Department Capital Improvement <br />Funds for some new equipment. After a discussion Council agreed that, <br />technically, the Fire Department should provide Council written bids <br />for any purchases. Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Mayor <br />Warkentien that the Fire Department submit at least two written bids <br />to Council and that the matter be deferred to next meeting to allow <br />the Fire Chief to submit these bids. Motion carried unanimously. <br />1 <br />Mayor Warkentien read a letter from Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik and <br />Associates listing the following engineering rates which will go <br />into effect January 1, 1979: Principal Engineer - $34.00 per hour, <br />Registered Engineer - $30.00 per hour, Assistant Engineer - $25.00 <br />der hour, Senior Technician - $15.00 per hour and Clerical - $12.00 <br />per hour. Councilmember Stone moved, seconded by Councilmember <br />Brown that the 1980 engineering fees be~approved. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Brown that <br />the Regular City Council Meeting of November 14, 1979 be changed <br />to November 7, 1979 and that Council conduct the Canvassing Board <br />of the November 6, 1978 election at that time. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that it is necessary <br />that an energy report on municipal buildings be prepared before <br />December 31, 1979 and that there are grants available for funding <br />some of the cost of preparing the report. One suggestion was <br />to attempt to hire the City Building Inspector to do the report. <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele to authorize <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes to apply for grant funds to cover the cost <br />of the report and hire someone to prepare the report. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Mayor Warkentien presented to Council Ordinance 168 permitting storage <br />of elm wood with bark on from September 15th to April 1st. Council- <br />member Stone opposed the Ordinance on the grounds that it would require <br />someone to police the storing of wood in order to enforce the April <br />1st disposal date, and inquired why it is necessary that the City adopt <br />the Ordinance.
