The subject was deferred to the November 7, 1979 meet- <br />ing awaiting this opinion. <br />Proposed Resolution 79-26 - 1980 Shade Tree Program - was also deferred RESOLUTION <br />to November 7, 1979. 79-26 DEFERRED <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council he had attended a meeting CABLE TV <br />October 15, 1979 conducted by Capitol City Cablevision. Representatives REPORT <br />of each community in attendance were advised that Capitol City Cable- <br />vision had submitted application to incorporate a Cable Service Terri- <br />tory, which includes the City of Falcon Heights. All communities within <br />the territory could be included or request to be eliminated from the ,•. <br />proposed territory. <br />They were also informed that each community must establish a Citizens <br />Advisory Committee on Cable Communications and that there were numerous <br />public hearing to be held before one could enter into a franchise agree- <br />ment. In most cases this would take 9 months to a year to accomplish. <br />The Minnesota Cable Communications Board had approved the St. Paul <br />Territory on October 12, 1979. No further action was taken by Council. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes reported to Council that he had discussed FRIDAY AFTER <br />with the City Attorney the possiblity of designating the Friday after THANKSGIVING <br />Thanksgiving as a holiday rather than Columbus Day, which has been DESIGNATED AS <br />the designated holiday in the past. Councilmember Steele moved HOLIDAY IN <br />seconded by Councilmember Stone that in 1980 the Friday after Thanks- LIEU OF <br />giving be designated as a holiday in lieu of Columbus Day. Motion COLUMBUS DAY <br />carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Stone moved, seconded by Councilmember Brown that the <br />office and maintenance employees be allowed to take the Friday off <br />after Thanksgiving in 1979. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed that he had checked into the HEATER IN <br />possible price that could be obtained for .the heater in the warming SCHOOL WARMING <br />house at Falcon Heights Elementary School and that an amount of HOUSE TO BE <br />$100.00 was suggested. Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Council- SOLD <br />member Brown that the Clerk Administrator be authorized to sell the <br />heater in the school warming house at the best price possible. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that another Levy Limits CLERK ADM. <br />'Task Force Meeting is to be held at Alexandria, Minnesota on November AND PETE <br />8th and 9th, 1979 and requested that he and Pete McGough be authorized MCGOUGH TO <br />to attend, as they had attended the previous meeting on the subject. ATTEND LEVY <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Stone that the Clerk LIMITS TASK <br />Administrator and Pete McGough be authorized to attend the Task Force FORCE MEETING <br />Meeting at Alr~xandria, Minnesota on November 8th and 9th, 1979 to <br />complete the _egislative matters begun previously. Upon a vote being <br />taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers <br />Brown and Stone and the following voted "nay": Councilmember Steele. <br />Motion carried. <br />Council concurred with the Clerk Administrator's plan to reorganize REORGANIZATION <br />the Municipal Liquor Store Staff as follows: OF .LIQUOR STOR1 <br />STAFF <br />
