CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />DECEMBER 27, 1979 <br />PAGE 3 <br />Blue Shield to Washington National Insurance Company through the <br />League of Minnesota Cities effective January 1, 1980. <br />RESOLUTION 79-30 <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CLERK <br />ADMINISTRATOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH <br />THE LEAGUE OF MINNESOTA CITIES INSURANCE TRUST <br />FOR GROUP HEALTH, GROUP LIFE PLAN, AND DISABILITY <br />INCOME PLAN <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes requested Council permit him to in- <br />vestigate the possibility of acquiring Workmen's Compensation <br />through the League of Minnesota Cities.. This request was granted. <br />~~.~:~ <br />INSURANCE <br />(cont.) <br />RESOLUTION 79-30 <br />Janet Brown, Chairperson, Park and Playground Development Committee, PARK DEVELOPMENT <br />addressed Council requesting that the Park Development Committee be COMMITTEE REQUEST <br />granted permission to order an x11 steel bleacher (seating capacity TO ORDER BLEACHERS <br />35 adults) at a cost of $818.00 plus approximately $100.00 freight. REJECTED <br />The bleacher would be placed at the large softball field at the <br />Falcon Heights Community Park. It was also requested that the order <br />be placed immediately as there is to be a price increase after January <br />1, 1980. <br />1'he Conunittee had hoped for a donation by a civic minded group to cover <br />the cost of the bleachers. This was not possible at this time but there <br />will be attempts in the future. <br />A discussion was held as to the disposition of current funds and the <br />budget process. Councilmember Store moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien <br />that r!+e request for r_he bleacher be rejected. Upon a vote being taken <br />~'~e. fc~'lowing voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien and Councilmember Stone, <br />an c? r~,t~ following voted "nay": Councilmember Steele. Motion carried. <br />C1~-rlc -'administrator Barnes reported to Council that he had met with a CITY TO REQUEST <br />re 1: r4.-sentative of the Department of Natural Resources and was informed TREE PLANTING <br />that the DNP. would provide trees for the city at no cost (in lots of ASSISTANCE <br />SQO, Dome seedlings, perhaps some larger). Their only requirement is FROM THE DNR <br />teat some of the. trees be used as a windbreak. The DNR also will survey <br />existi^~ trees zn the c~_ty and make recommendations.. The Clerk Admini- <br />str.e.~tor recommended *_hat the City of Falcon Heights participate in the <br />program *nrovided by the DNR. Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Council- <br />member Stone that the Clerk Administrator be authorized to request tree <br />planting assistance from the DNR at no obligation to the City of Falcon <br />'aeiglits. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Attorney Kenefick informed Council he will be drafting an ordinance PARKING <br />to correct inconsistencies in existing parking ordinances and will ORDINANCE TO <br />incorporate a section giving the Sheriff's Department authority to BE DRAFTED <br />tow and impound vehicles. <br />Councilmember Steele informed Council he had contacted Dr. Woodburn UPDATE ON DOG- <br />Arden Hills Councilmember, regarding the possibility of the City of CATCHER IN- <br />Falcon Heights hiring the Arden Hills dogcatcher part time, and perhaps, FORMATION <br />
