Q2~ <br />MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL, MEETING <br />APRIL 9, 1980 <br />PAGE 2 <br />remove the diseased trees by the date given in the notice the City should SHADE TREE <br />then have the trees removed as stipulated by the State Shade Tree Program. PROGRAM <br />Council agreed that Mark Stennes should give the notices personally as he (cont.) <br />requested. <br />Engineer Lemberg requested that Council approve the specifications and plans 1980 SEAL- <br />for the 1980 sealcoating and authorize publication advertising for bids. COATING <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert to approve the PLANS <br />specifications and plans for the 1980 sealcoating of the northwest quadrant APPROVED <br />of the City and to authorize publication advertising for bids, such bids <br />to be opened on May 2, 1980 at 2:00 p.m. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes requested permission to dispose of 50 feet of 50 FEET OF <br />old fire hose at a price of $15.00 (30~ per foot). Councilmember Steele OLD FIRE <br />moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert that the Clerk Administrator be HOSE SOLD <br />authorized to sell 50 feet of old fire hose to Dr. Robert Busch, Depart- TO U OF M <br />ment of ~~;ronomy, University of Minnesota, at a price of $15.00. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that Farmers Union Grain Terminal GTA INTEREST <br />Association has expressed interest in purchasing the property on which IN CITY <br />the ('ty buildings are standing. If the City property is to be sold, PROPERTY <br />and a Neta City ball must be built, Clerk Administrator Barnes suggested <br />the City nii~;ht attempt to negotiate with the University of Minnesota <br />to lease land upon which a new building could be constructed. <br />Some uiscussion followed regarding possible locations for a new City <br />Building, including the undeveloped land south of Larpenteur Avenue <br />across from the University Golf Course. Mayor Warkentien inquired <br />as to whether or not Council would like for he and the Clerk Adminis- <br />trator to further investigate the possible sale and construction of <br />a new City Building and Council responded in the affirmative. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes presented a proposal for the purchase of PURCHASE <br />three new chairs and a table for the Clerk's Office at a cost of $574.00. OF CHAIRS <br />Mayor Warkentien suggested the matter be deferred enabling the Clerk FOR OFFICE <br />Administrator to check into the possibility of purchasing used furniture DEFERRED <br />or reupholstering the existing chairs. ' <br />Councilmember Eggert informed Council that the Cable TV Citizens Advisory CABLE TV <br />Committee met for the first time April 3, 1980 and will subsequently meet <br />the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. <br />Falcon Heights had been included in the North Suburban Cable TV Territory <br />along with other north suburban communities and Council had requested <br />that Falcon Heights be deleted from the group. Councilmember Eggert <br />explained that the agreement is not binding and that the City can with- <br />draw at any time by petitioning the Cable Communications Board. He also <br />felt that Council should reconsider the withdrawl (which was decided at <br />the March 19, 1980 meeting) as being included in the North Suburban Cable <br />TV Territory would be advantageous in that the City would have input into <br />the structuring of the organization which will administer the franchising. <br />
