MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />APRIL 9, 1980 <br />PAGE 3 <br /> <br />1 <br />Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien that the action <br />of the March 19, 1980 meeting be rescinded. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Brown that a letter <br />of intent be sent requesting inclusion in the North Suburban Cable TV <br />Service Territory. Motion carried unanimously. <br />~~~ <br />CABLE TV <br />(cont.) <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes explained that the alley being used as a drive- ALLEY BEING <br />way by residents at 1740 and 1746 Holton has not been maintained properly USED AS <br />and complaints have been received regarding the disrepair. Letters were DRIVEWAY <br />written to the property owners requesting the alley be properly surfaced AT 1740 & <br />as is required by ordinanceā¢ However, the residents have not complied with .1746 HOLTON <br />the request. IN DISREPAIR <br />Councilmember Brown moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele to authorize <br />the Clerk Administrator to consult with the City Attorney regarding what <br />action can be taken either to require the residents surface the area used <br />as a driveway or close the ally off at the street and use the area as a <br />walkway. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Jim Jernberg, Chairman of the Recreation Advisory Committee, presented <br />to Council the proposed 1980 Summer Recreation Program. He also in- <br />formed Council that the Committee recommended that Jeanne Saari be hired <br />at the 1980 Summer Recreation Director at a salary of $6.00 per hour. <br />Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by.Councilmember Brown that the <br />scheduled recreation program be approved and Jeanne Saari be hired <br />at ;6.00 per hour, her hours to be determined by daylight hours. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />19 80 SUMMER <br />RECREATION <br />PROGRAM <br />APPROVED & <br />JEANNE SAARI <br />HIRED AS <br />DIRECTOR <br />Councilmember Brown informed Council that the City has received a ques- OPTICON -___ <br />tionnaire from the Ramsey County Engineering Department asking the City's UPDATE <br />intent .in regard to the Emergency Vehicle Preemption program (OPTICON). <br />Councilmember Brown suggested that the questionnaire be completed to <br />indic~:ztc that. Falcon Heights is interested but has no funds to cover the <br />cost at this time. Council agreed with the suggestion. <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that former Liquor Store employee Maurice MAURICE <br />E. Cedarholm has applied for Unemployment Compensation. The Clerk-Admini- CEDARHOLM <br />strator stated that he has written to the Department of Economic Security UNEMPLOY- <br />objecting to the claim. MENT COMP. <br />CLAIM <br />Councilmember Larson presented to Council the Job Description for Planning <br />Commission Members, which was prepared by the Planning Commission. Council- PLANNING <br />member Larson moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele that Council approve COMM. JOB <br />the Job Description for the Planning Commission Members of Falcon Heights DESCRIPTION <br />as presented. Motion carried unanimously. APPROVED <br />Councilmember Brown presented to Council information obtained in a survey FIREMAN <br />regarding periodic physicals for firemen. It was decided to defer the matter PHYSICAL <br />until the April 23, 1980 meeting in order to give the Fire Department an <br />opportunity to study the matter and make some recommendations. <br />
