°~ <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />APRIL 23, 1980 <br />PAGE 5 <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that the office has received <br />complaints from residents on 'Tatum Street re~;ardiug tl-e newly installed <br />newspaper tubes (installed by the St. Paul Dispatch-Pioneer Press) and <br />requested that the City order removal of the tubes. Residents of other <br />areas have requested that the tubes remain as placed. The Clerk Admini- <br />strator had prepared a letter to the newspaper requesting removal of the <br />tubes and wanted Council's opinion as to whether or not the City wished <br />to get involved in the matter. After a discussion it was decided to let <br />the individual neighborhoods handle the matter rather than the City since <br />not all residents desire the tubes removed. The Clerk Administrator will <br />offer his letter to residents wishing to send the letter in their own <br />names. <br />TATUM RESIDENT; <br />OBJECTION TO <br />NEWSPAPER <br />TUBES <br /> <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes presented to Council a new Delta Dental Plan DENTAL PLAN <br />designed to provide dental insurance to small groups of employees. After DISCUSSION <br />some discussion Council suggested the matter be deferred and that the <br />Clerk Administrator check into other insurance possibilities. <br />The Clerk Administrator informed Council that Mayor Warkentien has been POSSIBLE <br />approached, in writing, by the Mayor of the City of Lauderdale regarding FIRE CONTRACT <br />the possibility of a fire protection contract with Falcon Heights. WITH CITY OF <br />Mayor Warkentien will meet with Mayor Nelson of Lauderdale, Fire Chief LAUDERDALE <br />Renchin, Councilmember Brown and Clerk Administrator Barnes to discuss <br />the matter. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes described to Council a lettering and sign CITY TO <br />making machine which had been demonstrated to him recently. He felt PURCHASE <br />that the purchase of such a machine might reduce the cost of signing "LETERON" <br />in the City due to the fact that it would be necessary to purchase SIGN MAKING <br />only blank signs, which cost considerably less than printed signs. MACHINE <br />After a discussion Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Acting <br />Mayor Brown to authorize the Clerk Administrator to purchase a "Leteron" <br />Lettering and Sign System at a cost of $375,00, Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert that the ADJOURNMENT <br />meeting be adjourned at 10:01 p.m..
