°~ MINUTES REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 23, 1980 PAGE 5 Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that the office has received complaints from residents on 'Tatum Street re~;ardiug tl-e newly installed newspaper tubes (installed by the St. Paul Dispatch-Pioneer Press) and requested that the City order removal of the tubes. Residents of other areas have requested that the tubes remain as placed. The Clerk Admini- strator had prepared a letter to the newspaper requesting removal of the tubes and wanted Council's opinion as to whether or not the City wished to get involved in the matter. After a discussion it was decided to let the individual neighborhoods handle the matter rather than the City since not all residents desire the tubes removed. The Clerk Administrator will offer his letter to residents wishing to send the letter in their own names. TATUM RESIDENT; OBJECTION TO NEWSPAPER TUBES Clerk Administrator Barnes presented to Council a new Delta Dental Plan DENTAL PLAN designed to provide dental insurance to small groups of employees. After DISCUSSION some discussion Council suggested the matter be deferred and that the Clerk Administrator check into other insurance possibilities. The Clerk Administrator informed Council that Mayor Warkentien has been POSSIBLE approached, in writing, by the Mayor of the City of Lauderdale regarding FIRE CONTRACT the possibility of a fire protection contract with Falcon Heights. WITH CITY OF Mayor Warkentien will meet with Mayor Nelson of Lauderdale, Fire Chief LAUDERDALE Renchin, Councilmember Brown and Clerk Administrator Barnes to discuss the matter. Clerk Administrator Barnes described to Council a lettering and sign CITY TO making machine which had been demonstrated to him recently. He felt PURCHASE that the purchase of such a machine might reduce the cost of signing "LETERON" in the City due to the fact that it would be necessary to purchase SIGN MAKING only blank signs, which cost considerably less than printed signs. MACHINE After a discussion Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Acting Mayor Brown to authorize the Clerk Administrator to purchase a "Leteron" Lettering and Sign System at a cost of $375,00, Motion carried unanimously.
