~~~
MINUTES
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 23, 1980
PAGE 4
in the mileage charge is the ca~~ita1 outlay for the squad car and
that as of March 30, 1980 the balance in that. account was $3,517.01.
MILEAGE
(cont.)
Due to the fact that the present squad car has over 100,000 miles on NEW SEDAN
it and is in need of expensive repairs the Clerk Administrator recom- TO BE PURCHASE]
mended that Council consider ordering a new squad car (a small sedan FOR POLICING
rather than a van as is presently used ). The Ramsey County Sheriff's FALCON HEIGHTS
Department currently has a bid that is open and Falcon Heights could be
included in that bid for a 1980 Volare Sedan at a cost of $6,049.00.
With the $3,517.01 in the capital outlay fund, plus the trade in„it
was estimated that an additional amount of approximately $1,000.00
would be needed to cover the cost of the car. There caould also be
a saving in gasoline as the new car would get approximately 12 miles
per gallon whereas the van only gets 6 miles per gallon.
Councilmember Steele inquired if it is possible that 10% of the car's
usage is for the Municipal Liquor Store and if it might be feasable
to directly assign $1,000.00 from the Liquor Fund toward the cost
of car replacement. Council concurred.
Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert that the
City of Falcon Heights request that the Sheriff's Department include
the City in the pool bid for the purchase of a 1980 Volare Sedan
for patrolling within the City of Falcon Heights. Motion carried un-
animously.
Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson that a
maximum of $1,100.00 be assigned from the Municipal Liquor Fund to
cover the additional cost of purchasing the new car as well as addi-
tional costs attributed to the increase in gasoline prices. Motion
carried unanimously.
Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that complaints have been
received regarding individuals who are hitting golf balls in the City
Park. Councilmember Steele stated he had witnessed a golfer at the
Park and that he noted the lawn is being damaged by such activities.
Councilmember-Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert that large
signs be posted immediately prohibiting golf, golf practice or archery
in the City Park and that this fact be stressed in the next newsletter.
Motion carried unanimously.
Councilmember Eggert gave Council an update on the Cable TV Citizens
Advisory Committee. The most recent meeting was held in Fridley, MN
in the Public Access Workshop where the members spent three hours
viewing the types of programs available i_n [Fridley. The Committee
will devote the next meeting (May 8, 1980) to the needs assessment.
Councilmember Steele reported that many individuals are walking dogs
in the City Park and suggested that large signs be posted prohibiting
this practice. He also requested that the closing time (10:00 p.m.)
be posted.
GOLF AND
ARCHERY TO
BE PROHIBITED
IN CITY PARK
CABLE TV
UPDATE
REQUEST FOR
NO DOG SIGNS
AT PARK
