MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING ,'~ <br />MAY 14, 1980 <br />PAGE 4 <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes reported that the tree planters are in the TREE PLANTING <br />~ process of replacing boulevard trees where possible. He informed that UPDATE <br />many Redmond Lindens on Simpson Ave. have died and that the City was <br />unable to purchase that variety this year. The Clerk Administrator <br />suggested that, perhaps, Hackberry or Honey Locust could be planted <br />on Simpson as the City does have a number of those verities. <br />Councilmember Eggert inquired as to whether residents may purchase a LINpENS ON <br />larger tree and be reimbursed by the City for the amount the City SIMPSON TO BL. <br />would have paid. He was advised that residents may take that option REPLACED BY <br />if they desire. Councilmember Eggert moved. seconded by Councilmember OTHER VARITIE <br />Brown that residents of Simpson Ave. be given the following options: <br />(1) purchase a tree and be reimbursed for the amount the City would <br />have paid, (2) a choice of Hackberry or Honey Locust, and if no pre- <br />ference is stated the City will plant a Hackberry. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Councilmember Larson informed Council that John O'Brien, an investor, ST. DUDE <br />has contacted the City regarding the possibility of constructing a HOSPITAL <br />building on the land west and north of Hewlett Packard. The firm (St. SUPPLY <br />Jude's Hospital Supply) completes the production of artificial heart INTERESTED IN <br />valves and would be a very clean operation. The firm is willing to LOCATING IN <br />do whatever is necessary in the way of drainage, sewer, landscaping, FALCON HEIGHT <br />etc.. They would like to have the Councilmembers and Planning Commission <br />Members tour their present facility. <br />Councilmember Larson informed Council that all Falcon Heights Business- MEETING PLAN- <br />persons have been asked to attend a meeting May 20, 1980 at 7:00 a.m. NED WITH <br />to discuss the Comprehensive Plan and get input from the business BUSINESS <br />community. All Councilmembers are invited to attend if interested. COMMUNITY <br />Councilmember Steele arrived during this announcement. COUNCILMEMBER <br />STEELE ARRIVE <br />Councilmember Brown reported that she had attended the Fire Department <br />Business Meeting and that some items discussed were the Williams Pipe- FIRE DEPT. <br />line Fire (for which the Department has received a letter of thanks BUSINESS MTG. <br />from the City of Roseville for assisting with fighting the fire), REPORT <br />location of anew City Hall, and periodic physicals for firemen. <br />She informed that the Fire Department is not in favor of routine physicals <br />as most of the members have physicals at place of employment and they <br />feel that those records could be obtained by the City, if requested. <br />The Department felt routine physicals would be a waste of money. Craig <br />Schauffer, a Fire Department Member, was in attendance and confirmed the <br />statements. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that .the Annual Convention LEAGUE OF <br />of the League of Minnesota Cities will be held June 10-13, 1980 in MN CITIES <br />Duluth, MN and that he would like to attend. Councilmember Steele CONVENTION <br />moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert that the Clerk Administrator TO BE HELD <br />be authorized to attend the meeting. Motion carried unanimously. JUNE 10-13 <br />IN DULUTH <br />It was then decided that if any Councilmember wishes to attend, Mr. Barnes <br />should be notified in order that he can make reservations. <br />
