St. Marys, Fry, Maple Knoll Drive and Garden Avenue west of <br />Snelling <br />4. Fairview Avenue 1,300 feet north of Larpenteur on both sides <br />5. Tatum 1,300 feet north of Larpenteur <br />6. Lindig Street on water side, including culdesac. <br />Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Councilmembers <br />Steele, Brown, Eggert and Larson, and the following voted "nay": <br />Mayor Warkentien. Motion carried. <br />6i. <br />c~ <br />FAIR PARKING <br />(cont.) <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes reported to Council regarding the estimated ESTIMATED <br />costs of the police contract for 1981. He quoted a letter from the 1981 POLICIN( <br />Ramsey County Sheriff which indicated the estimated cost of law en- COSTS <br />forcemeat for the City of Falcon Heights for 1981 would be $222,319.00, <br />an increase of $29,547.00 (15.6%). <br />Councilmember Steele suggested investigation of .the following possible <br />solutions to the high cost of policing: (1) contact legislators to <br />request introduction of a bill to limit the annual percent of in- <br />crease for such services as policing (similar to the levy limit <br />which applies to municipalities), (2) contact the League of Minnesota <br />Municipalities for support of a possible bill to limit the precentage <br />of increase, (3) approach the City of Lauderdale regarding possible <br />point policing, and (4) contact other communities to see if there <br />is interest in a Regional Joint Powers Policing Agreement. <br />During the policing discussion Mayor Warkentien drew attention to <br />a letter from the Reverend Marion Pocker, Pastor of the Falcon Heights <br />United Church of Christ, regarding the lack of policing in that area <br />during certain hours, and commenting on the resulting problems such <br />as vandalism, reckless driving, etc. <br />As a result of the discussion it was agreed that Mayor Warkentien <br />would contact Representative Mike Fritz, the Clerk Administrator <br />would contact the League of Municipalities and that Councilmember <br />Brown would discuss the matter with the Mayor of Lauderdale. <br />Prosecuting Attorney Ronald Riach's 1980 second quarter report was PROSECUTORS <br />noted. REPORT NOTED <br />Mayor Warkentien reported that the first meeting of the North Suburban N. SUBURBAN <br />Cable Commission will be held oa July 31, 1980 at 7:00 p.m. at the CABLE COMM. <br />Roseville City Hall. The meeting will be attended by Councilmember TO HAVE FIRS' <br />Eggert, Representative from the City of Falcon Heights. MEETING <br />Attorney Van deNorth informed Council that a revised ordinance HEAD SHOP <br />prohibiting the sale of drug paraphernelia is being proposed by ORDINANCE TO <br />the City of Eagan as the present Eagan Ordinance was not upheld by BE DRAFTED <br />the 8th District Court of Appeals. Council was of the opinion that <br />Falcon Heights should have such an ordinance, therefore, Council- <br />
