~~
MINUTES
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
AUGUST 27, 1980
PAGE 2
policing and the Clerk Administrator recommended that any funds received PUBLIC
be used for that purpose. Since there were no comments from those in HEARING
attendance Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson (cont.)
that the Revenue Sharing Funds be used for policing as it has in the past.
Motion carried unanimously.
Fred Baker, a resident of the apartment complex at 1707 Lindig, represent-
ing several residents of that building, informed that they feel the "no
parking" sign posted for the duration of the State Fair should be re-
moved due to the fact that there are not enough off-street parking spaces
and the "no parking" sign creates a parking problem. After a short dis-
cussion Acting Mayor Brown moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson that
the "no parking" sign on the east side of Lindig across from 1707 Lindig
be removed. Motion carried unanimously.
"NO PARKING'
SIGN ACROSS
FROM 1707
LINDIG TO
BE REMOVED
Acting Mayor Brown informed Council that persons with delinquent sewer SANITARY
charges have been notified by mail and that it is now necessary to set SEWER ASSES
a date for the Assessment Hearing. Acting Mayor Brown moved, seconded MENT HEARING
by Councilmember Larson that the Assessment Hearing for Delinquent SET FOR
Sanitary Sewer Charges be set for September 24, 1980 at 8:00 p.m. Motion 9/24/80
carried unanimously.
John Labalestra, 1433 California and Lido Cafe, addressed Council at the
request of Clerk Administrator Barnes. The Clerk Administrator had given
( Mr. Labalestra, for his review and comments, a proposed Ramsey County
Model Ordinance on Food Service Establishments, which is based on the
1976 F.D.A. Food Sanitation Manual. Apparently there has been discussion
on the State level regarding the possibility of the counties taking over
the food inspection program. Mr. Labalestra noted his concerns and
marked them on the draft of the proposed ordinance. He did state
that he felt the county could do abetter job of inspecting and was in
favor of the change as long as both the County and State did not both
collect fees. Clerk Administrator Barnes was directed to convey the
information to Ramsey County.
At the August 13, 1980 Meeting Keith Hofeld was approved as a pro-
bationary fireman. Councilmember Brown informed Council that Mr. Hofe~cl
was actually returning from a leave of absence and the probationary
period would not apply to him. Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by
Councilmember Steele that Keithe Hofeld be approved without probation
subject to his physical. Motion carried unanimously.
Engineer Lemberg informed Council that the sealcoating project in the
northwest quadrant of the City has been completed except for three areas
which need patching. The contract with Bituminous Roadways stipulated the
cost would not exceed $33,000.00. However, due to the fact that the
streets were in better condition than anticipated and aggregate saved
from the 1979 sealcoating was used, the cost of the project will be con-
siderably less. Engineer Lemberg requested payment to Bituminous
Roadways in the amount of $17,650.28, which is the cost to date. He
' anticipates there might be an additional $500.00 to $600.00 cost for
completion of the project. Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by
Councilmember Larson that payment in the amount of $17,650.28 be made
as requested. Motion carried unanimously.
JOHN
LABALESTRA
COMMENTS
ON PROPOSID
COUNTY FOOD
ESTABLISHMEr
ORDINANCE
Id0 PROBATIO'
PERIOD FOR
KEITHE
HOFELD
AUTHORIZATIC
OF PAYM~T
FOR SEAL
COATING
PROJECT
