MINUTES <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 17, 1980 <br />PAGE 2 <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that he had received a letter from <br />Mike Heffron, State Fairgrounds, in response to an article in the Sun <br />Newspaper regarding Fair time problems in Falcon Heights. Council <br />suggested that the Mayor contact Mr. Heffron and discuss the matter. <br />Mayor Warkentien opened the 1981 Budget discussion with the proposed <br />Fire and Rescue Budgets. Chief Renchin was in attenance to present <br />his recommendations. During the ensuing discussion the following <br />motions were made: <br />lJ ~~ <br />LETTER FROM <br />MIKE HEFFRON <br />REGARDING SUN <br />NEWSPAPER <br />ARTICLE <br />1981 BUDGET <br />DISCUSSION <br />(1) Councilmember Brown moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson FIRE & RESCUE <br />that the per diem for Fire and Rescue Travel, Conferences BUDGET CHANGES <br />and Schools be increased from $25.00 per day to $45.00 per <br />day for remainder of 1980 if the Budget permits, and for 1981. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />(2) Councilmember Brown moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert <br />that the Fire and Rescue Call Salaries be increased from $5.50 <br />per hour to $6.00 per hour starting January 1, 1981. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />(3) Councilmember Brown moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson <br />that the 1981 Budget for Chief and Assistants be increased <br />from $5,100.00 to $6,672.00 for the year starting January 1, <br />1981. Motion carried unanimously. <br />(4) Councilmember Brown moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson <br />that the following salary increases be approved for the year 1981: <br />(a) Chief - increase from $135.00 to $150.00 per month <br />(b) Assistants - increase from $85.00 to $95.00 per month <br />(c) Captains - increase from $35.00 to $40.00 per month <br />. (d) Rescue Captains - increase from -0- to $40.00 per month <br />(e) Lieutenants - increase from $25.00 to $28.00 per month <br />Upon a vote being taken the motion carried unanimously. <br />While considering the 1981 Budget items for Mayor and Council the sub3ect COUNCIL <br />of Council salaries arose. After a discussion Councilmember Eggert moved, SALARIES <br />seconded by Mayor Warkentien that Ordinance X173 be adopted increasing <br />the Mayor's salary $40.00 per month and Council salaries $30.00 per month. <br />Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Council- <br />members Steele, Brown, Eggert and Larson and the following voted "nay" None. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE ~R173 ORDINANCE <br />~~ 173 <br />AN ORDINANCE FI%ING THE SALARIES FOR THE MAYOR AND <br />COUNCILMEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />FALCON HEIGHTS AND REPEALING ORDINANCES 130, 143 AND <br />167 <br />
