ATTY. <br />was noted. REPORT <br />A letter from the University of Minnesota in response the Falcon U. OF M. <br />Heights Comprehensive Plan was noted and discussed. It was suggested RESPONSE TO <br />that copies of the letter be given to the Planning Commission Members COMPREHENSIVE <br />and Carl Dale, City Planner. PLAN <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes reported that Northern States Power has NSP PUBLIC <br />scheduled a Public Hearing on Rate Increases, such meeting to be HEARING NOTEI <br />held on October 27, 1980 at 10:00 a.m. <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that a letter has been received from REQUEST FOR <br />the North Suburban Development Achievement Center, Inc. requesting FUNDS FROM <br />grants. Council instructed the Clerk Administrator to write the organi- N. SUB. <br />zation advising that Falcon Heights considers each individual case DEVELOPMENT <br />separately rather than providing a grant to the organization. ACHIEVEMENT <br />CENTER <br />Attorney Van de North informed Council that David Allen of the firm <br />of Briggs and Morgan has been assigned to the City of Falcon Heights DAVID ALLEN <br />to replace John R. Kenefick. TO BE CITY <br />ATTORNEY <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes reported to Council that a letter has been <br />from the Minnesota Department of Transportation indicating PROPOSED <br />that they are considering closing the median at Snelling and Crawford. MEDIAN CLOS- <br />Council objected to such a median closing as it would be detrimental ING AT <br />to business in Falcon Heights. The Clerk Administrator was directed SNELLING & <br />to arrange a meeting with the Department of Transportation to discuss CRAWFORD <br />future plans, such meeting to be attended by Mayor Warkentien, Council- <br />member Larson, Engineer Lemberg and the Clerk Administrator. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes presented to Council a letter from the COUNCIL <br />Association of Metropolitan Municipalities regarding the proposed OBJECTS TO <br />draft policy on funding of the Metropolitan Transit Co. Council- PROPOSED <br />member Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson that the MTC FUNDING <br />Clerk Administrator be authorized to indicate the Council's opposit- <br />ion to the proposed draft policy. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert that ADJOURNMENT <br />the meeting be adjourned at 9:20 p.m. Motion carried unanimously. <br />
