MINUTES <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />NOYEMBE$ 6, 1980 <br />PAGE 3 <br />further use for it and needed to dispose of it. Mayor Warkentien moved, <br />seconded by Councilmember Larson, that the City accept the used equip- <br />ment and that the Clerk Administrator be directed to write a letter of <br />thanks to the firm. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that he, Councilmember Larson and <br />the Clerk Administrator had met with State Highway Department Engineers <br />regarding the State's proposed closing of the median at Crawford and <br />Snelling due to the numerous accidents at that intersection. A lengthy <br />discussion followed after which Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by <br />Councilmember Eggert, that Mayor Warkentien write the Department of <br />Transportation informing that the City strongly objects to the proposed <br />closing as it would be detrimental to the businesses of Falcon Heights <br />and suggesting the following alternatives: <br />1. Do not close off median, Crawford and Snelling, but <br />post "no left turn" at Crawford going west. <br />2. Post "no left turn" at Crawford and Snelling median <br />for traffic going north on Snelling, but permit left <br />turn going east on Crawford for traffic going south <br />on Snelling. <br />3. Close off the service road at the northwest corner <br />of Larpenteur and Snelling adjacent to the Amoco <br />Station. <br />4. Close off the service road entrance at the northeast <br />corner of Larpenteur and Snelling adjacent to Flower <br />City. <br />The proposed changes would be for a 6 month trial period. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />9 ti <br />ADDRESSOGRAPF <br />(cont.) <br />PROPOSED <br />MEDIAN CLOSIr <br />AT CRAWFORD <br />AND SNELLING <br />Mayor Warkentien presented Resolution 80-29 and moved its adoption. Council- <br />member Steele seconded the motion and upon a vote being taken the Resolution <br />was adopted unanimously. <br />RESOLUTION 80-29 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE LOCAL UNITED STATES <br />POST OFFICE TO PROVIDE MAIL DELIVERY DIRECTLY TO <br />THE RESIDENCES WHICH WOULD PERMIT REMOVAL OF CURB <br />SIDE MAIL BOXES <br />Councilmember Larson informed Council that the Ramsey County Board of <br />Commissioners has approved placement of 4 way stop signs at Hamline and <br />Roselawn and at Cleveland and Roselawn for a 2 year trial period. Falcon <br />Heights has in the past requested such signing. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that the Ramsey County Sheriff's <br />Dept. recovered and returned to the City the full amount taken in the <br />recent liquor store robbery. <br />Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, that the <br />meeting be adjourned at 9:45 p.m. Motion carried unanimously. <br />RESOLUTION <br />80-29 <br />4 WAY STOPS <br />ROSELAWN & <br />CLEVELAND - <br />ROSELAWN & <br />HAMLINE <br />LIQUOR STORE <br />MONEY RETURNS <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />
