Leah Johnson, 152L~ West Iowa, stated that she had just put a new driveway <br />in, and that she does not want that driveway destroyed. She also stated she <br />would be fora 36 foot wide street. <br />liayor T^rarkentien stated :$16G,000 was available for improvements, and if her <br />driveway had to be removed, it would be replaced. <br />Gerrit Timmers, 1523 ?"rest Hoyt, was concerned about moving his garage and <br />sunpoarch back if there was any change in the right-of-way. <br />Engineer Lemberg stated Mr. Timmers' garage was about 16 feet in back of the <br />proposed right-off'-Z,-ay. <br />Joe Stearn., 1525 Idaho, asked, "What has been spend on maintaining the street, <br />and what effect would the drainage have on our property?" <br />Engineer Lemberg stated he did not show a breakdown of the maintenance cost <br />at present, and that the water drainage would be diverted to Hoyt, minimizing <br />the ponding problem on Idaho and Snelling. <br />Thomas Smith, 1531 West Idaho, stated he felt things should be left alone, <br />and that -~Y~ere was no need for assessments. <br />i~1rs. Leah Johnson, 152; ti^rest Iowa, stated she was concerned about her garage, <br />thought it was on city property, and why hadn't she been informed when she <br />had bought the property? <br />It was stated it was the responsi'oility of the contractor to determine the <br />lot line. <br />Mayor yrarkentien opened the 8:00 p.m, scheduled meeting for State Aid Street <br />Improvement for Crawford Avenue, and asked Engineer Lemberg to make his pre- <br />ser_tation on the proposed improvements. <br />Engineer Lemberg opened his presentation by presenting plans he had pre- <br />pared for the proposed improvement of Crawford Avenue, that would include <br />curb ar~d guttex•from Snelling Drive easterly to Arona Avenue. Yie noted <br />that some trees would have to be removed for the improvement. <br />Mayor "ai~kertien stated he was concerned about parking on one side by the <br />Falcon Heights Municipal Liquor Store. <br />Engineer Lemberg stated tre street could. be widened to 1~t~ feet to permit <br />parking on both sides. <br />P?ayor T°rarkentien then opened the regular Council meeting at 8:15 p.m. <br />The application of Northstar Pizza, Inc. for General Corporate License 1 R~~, <br />Non-Intoxicating ~"alt Liquor's, z"Tas discussed. Councilman Ecklund suggested <br />by ordinance, a business must operate in Falcon Heights for a period of 6 <br />months before a license can be granted. Attorney Kenefick also stated he <br />?as concerned abouF~• the language in the ordinancE, and asked time to studT <br />it. Councilman Stdeie moved, seconded by Councilman La.balestr•a, to defsr <br />this license discussion until the ne:~c meeting.
