C~ <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL 2~TING <br />FALCON HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA <br />JULY 2I~, 1975 <br />A regular meeting of the Falcon Heights City Council was called to order by <br />Mayor Warkentien at 8:O1 P.M. <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Steele, and Labalestra. Also PRESENT <br />present were Clerk Administrator Barnes, Engineer Lemberg, and Attorney <br />Kenefick. <br />None. ABSENT <br />Mayor Warkentien introduced Chairman James Korf of the Businessmen~s BUSINESSMEN'S <br />Association, who presented a map and written proposal for the Re- ASSOCIATION <br />zoning and Beautification for the City of Falcon Heights in an area PROPOSED <br />along Larpenteur Avenue from Arona Avenue to Cleveland Avenue. The REZONING STUDY <br />Council accepted the report ..for further study. <br />Councilman Labalestra noted the Association had spent much tame on the <br />proposal, and that they were hoping this or a similar proposal would be <br />adopted at a later date by the Planning Commission and Council. He then <br />noted that other committees should review the proposal and submit their <br />written thoughts on the proposal <br />Mayor Warkentien presented the discussion on the petition from Mrs. M.E. <br />Reiter, 17.6 North Fry, requesting the Council to permit the parking of STATE FAIR <br />cars in yards on Fry Street and St. Marys. Mayor Warkentien noted that PARKING <br />Ordinance 118, an am®ndment of Zoning Ordinance 64, had been adopted PETITION <br />May 3, 1972, stipulating that no cars could ;he parked on the unsurfaced MRS. REITER <br />area of the front yard, and would permit three cars registered in the <br />name of one or more of the residents of the premises in the rear yard. <br />Attorney K enefick noted that ~Y attempt to change the ordinance could <br />be preceded by a hearing and Planning Commission recommendation and a ~./5 <br />vote by the Council. <br />Councilman Black moved, seconded by Councilman Steele, that ClerkAdmin- <br />istrator Barnes be directed to set up a meeting with the Planning Commission, <br />that the meeting be published, and the key people on the petition be notified <br />as to the time and date of the meeting. <br />Councilman Steele moved, seconded by Councilman Ecklund, directing Clerk- <br />Administr~.tos~ 3arnes to purchase 180 metal "no parking" signs and the <br />required number of posts for no parking purposes during the State Fair at <br />an amount not to exceed $2,065.90. Upon a vote being taken, the following <br />voted "aye": ?ayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Steele, and <br />Labalestxa, and the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Black presented the discussion on the variance request of <br />Warners Stellian, 1711 North Snelling, for a new sign of 3l~8 square <br />feet to replace the present sign. A discussion was held relative to the <br />size of the proposed sign in relation to the Zoning Ordinance of Falcon <br />Heights, :and it was felt there is a discrepancy in the size of the proposed <br />sign, and the area actually available for the sign. <br />"NO-PARKINGr' <br />SIGNS FOR <br />STATE FAIR <br />WARNERiS <br />STET•?:TA1~1 SIGN <br />VARIANCE <br />DISCUSSION. <br />
