1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />8~ ~ <br />Councilman ~31ack stated this may be so, however, there was no necessity in the PARKING <br />ordinance that this even be referred to the Planning Commission, and that the CONTINUED <br />people on the Planning Commission are unpaid volunteers, dedicated to the <br />community. He also stated that everyone preaant at the he~'~ing had a charce to <br />speak, and that he felt the Planning Corsr_ission did an excellent job cn t:ir. <br />hna.-ring . <br />Millie Reitex, 17L~6 Fr~r, stated that the parl:i.ng on her property was for <br />charity, and that property owners should have the right to allow parking on <br />their properties. <br />Harold Nilsen, 179 Tatum, (former Niayor of Falcon Heights) discussed Zoning <br />Ordinance No. 61~, and the reasons that it was adopted. He stated that Zoning <br />Ordinance b~., itself, would ban this type of parking, even without Ordinance <br />No. 118, as this type of parking would constitute a commercial use in a <br />residential zoning area. <br />Mrs. Ritchie then asked who carries the fire department insurance for parking <br />in the City Hall lot? <br />C1ekr-Administrator replied Home Insurance Company does, and that the premiums <br />are paid for by the Fire Department, out of their own funds, and that it is <br />not public money. He then stated the Council gives permission for parking i n <br />the lot. <br />Jean Hermes Klosterman, 3l~25 Skycroft Circle (not a resident), representing <br />Hermes Shopping Center, stated she was concerned about the democratic vote <br />of August 11, and stated she felt a Council should vote for what the majority <br />would want. <br />Councilman Black stated this is true, however, it is impossible for a Council <br />to know what every citizen in a community would want, unless a referendum <br />would. be taken. <br />Mrs. Ritchie then stated she thought the Council was wrong in permitting the <br />hearings if the ordinances would not have permitted parking of this type in <br />the first place. <br />Councilman Black moved, seconded by Councilman Labalestra, to approve the <br />following Resolution: 75-2t~.. <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE RECOM~":ENDATIOPd <br />OF THE PLANNING COMr1ISSI0N TO KEEP IN FORCE AND EFFECT <br />08DINANCE . 118 OF THE CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS. <br />Upon a vote being taken, the following voted ~~aye~~: Mayor Warkentien, <br />Councilmen Black, Ecklund, and Labalests, and the following voted "nay~~: None. <br />notion was carried. <br />BUCK ~ S <br />Mr. Roger Buck of Buck's Unpainted Furniture, 1639 West Larpenteur, was UNPAINTED <br />present to request permission to place a flag pole on the inside edge of FtkZNITURE <br />their parking lot on the boulevard. FLAGPOLE <br />REQUEST <br />Attorney Kenefi_ck and Engineer Lemberg stated this is something that would <br />have to be discussed with the Ramsey County Engineer, and suggested <br />NIr. Buck contact them on this. No action was taken. <br />
