These trophies were won by th• Bantam "B"
and Pee-Wee "B" teams during laat season's competition.
Two petitions were presented to the Council by Robert Lamb,
1811 Simpson, on behalf of residents living on Garden Avenue
and in the immediate area of th• Avenue. The petitions were
signed by 155 residents and read as follows:
We, the undersigned residents of Falcon Heights, do
hereby petition the City Council of Falcon Heights
to take the following action concerning Garden Avenue:
Disapproval of arty and all motions to rebuild the street.
The petitions are on file in the City-Administrator's office
and listed as Exhibit A.
Robert Lamb, as spokesman for the petitioners, said that the
consensus of the group was that they would like to stop arxy
upgrading of the street, if possible. They also had alternate
proposals that' wanted to present to the Council.
William Helms, 1789 North Asbury, stated that the people living
in the area wanted a "Village" to reside in and simply did not
want more traffic, which they felt would result from the improve-
ment of the street.
3~

HOCKEY TROPHY
DISCUSSION cont.
GARDEN AVENUE
IMPROVEMENTS
Mr. Lamb stated he felt the street carried too much traffic alreac~.
He felt the street was now a thoroughfare for too much non-residential
traffic.
William H. Brown, 1808 Asbury, a professional engineer appearing as a
citizen, read a report he had prepared (assisted by an engineer, whose
name he refused to divulge) on the evaluation of Garden Avenue from
Snelling Drive to Holton Avenue. The report stated the condition of the
road at present and repairs that were needed for proper maintenance.
It was noted there were, by traffic count taken over a 2~ hour
period the past week, 1608 vehicles using Garden Avenue.
Paul Saxerud, 1803 North Pascal, using drawings and posters,
illustrated different types of control of traffic loads. Three
possible methods were illustrated: additional stop signs, a
barricade of the street at Snelling Drive, or a traffic diverter
at an intersection.
Robert Lamb, address previously given, stated that the residents
would like to have a committee appointed to solve the problems of
traffic control. He also asked if residents could stop cars to
make a study of origin and destination.
