Minutes q~` <br />August 25, 1976 <br />page ~ <br />A motion was made by Councilman Steele and seconded by Mayor <br />Warkentien to approve the Minnesota Rescue and First Aid Association's <br />request. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "ayes': MaGyor <br />Warkentien, Councilmen Steele, Black and Labalestra, and the follow- <br />ing voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Labalestra, seconded by Mayor PARKING ON <br />Warkentien to reconsider the posting of "No Parking" signs on Crawford CRAWFORD <br />Street. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "ayes': Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Steele and Labalestra, and the following <br />voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Moved by Councilman Steele and seconded by Mayor Warkentien to ban <br />all parking on the north side of Crawford from Arona to Asbury and <br />to restrict parking to 15 minutes on both sides of Crawford between <br />Asbury to Snelling Drive. Upon a vote being taken, the following <br />voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Steele and <br />Labalestra, and the following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Moved by Mayor Warkentien, seconded by Councilman Labalestra to have HENRY DACHTERA <br />a plaque made up in honor of Henry Dachtera to show the City's PLAQUE <br />appreciation of his long and distinguished service. Upon a vote <br />being taken, the following voted "ayes': Mayor Warkentien, Council- <br />men Black, Steele and Labalestra, and the following voted a'naysa: <br />None. Motion carried. <br />Moved by Councilman Black, seconded by Councilman Labalestra to APPOINTMENT OF <br />approve the Mayoras appointment of Mrs. Henry (Ruth) Dachtera, RUTH DACHTERA AS <br />subject to her approval, as Civil Defense Director for the remain- CIVIL DEFENSE <br />der of 1976. Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "ayeaa: DIRECTOR <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Steele and Labalestra, and the <br />following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />There was a lengthy discussion as to the status of our Dutch Elm DUTCH ELM DISEASE <br />Program. Council concurred that Dr. Hard is not moving fast enough COMMUNICATION WITH <br />and communication between Dr. Hard and the City office leaves some- DR. HARD <br />thing to be desired. Mr. Barnes was instructed to negotiate directly <br />with Northland Tree Service on prices. The Tree Committee, to meet <br />tomorrow night, August 26, 1976, will try to pinpoint further methods <br />of improving communication with Dr. Hard. <br />It was discussed and decided that the Council will send a certificate JERRY JENKINS <br />of appreciation for her contribution to the community to Henry CERTIFICATE OF <br />Jenkins, who has resigned from the Planning Commission. APPRECIATION <br />The June Liquor Financial Status Report was discussed and noted by JUNE LIQUOR REPORT <br />Council. <br />Council noted and discussed the confiscation, by the Fire Department, CONFISCATION OF <br />of Sam Speigleras lawnmower and various gasoline cans in violation of SPEIGLER PROPERTY <br />fire protection ordinances. The property was subsequently released <br />back to Mr. Speigler. No action was taken. <br />
