Minutes <br />Special Council Meeting <br />November 10, 1976 <br />Page 3 <br />Mrs. Chambers informed Council that the conference emphasized the <br />need for educating the public in the areas of Revenue Sharing, <br />Civil Rights and Fair Housing. Mrs. Chambers will be submitting a <br />detailed written report on the conference. <br />Mayor Warkentien read a request from Mr. Gertrude Johnson, 1l~15 Hoyt <br />Avenue to pay for her sewer bill from Maplewood Sewer and Water, in <br />the amount of $586.00 for work done on the repair of her sanitary <br />sewer line. Mrs. Johnson felt the City was responsible for the bill. <br />Clerk-Administrator Barnes stated that Mrs. Johnson's sanitary sewer <br />line has been connected for at least 27 years and that it has been <br />the City's policy not to pay sanitary sewer bills as that is consid- <br />ered private property. <br />Mayor Warkentien moved and it was seconded by Councilman Black to deny <br />pa3nnent on the basis of City policy that work don on sanitary sewer <br />lines from the home to the main line in the street is considered to be <br />work done on private property and is the responsibility of the home- <br />owner. Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Steele and Labalestra and the <br />following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br /> <br />HUMAN RIGHTS <br />CONFERENCE (CONY) <br />REQUEST OF M~.S. <br />GERTRUDE JOHNSON <br />TO HAVE THE CITY <br />PAY FOR WORK DONE <br />ON HER SANITARY <br />SEWER LINE <br />Mayor Warkentien presented the application for position of Volunteer APPROVAL OF <br />Fireman of David Lee King, 1607 Hollywood Court. Upon a vote being APPLICATION OF <br />taken the following voted "aye":, subject to six months probation and VOLUNTEER FIREMAN <br />passing a physical examination: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, DAVID LEE KING <br />Ecklund, Steele and Labalestra and the following voted "nay": None. <br />Motion carried. <br />Council discussed the possibility that the physical examination for FIREMhfiT'S <br />firemen was not thorough enough and instructed Clerk-Administrator PHYSICAL EXAMIN- <br />Barnes to have Chief Renchin check on Roseville's requireanents. ATION REQUIRE- <br />Councilman Labalestra offered to check with his mother as she is in MENTS <br />charge of physicals for Group Health. <br />Councilman Ecklund moved and it was seconded by Councilman Black to RESOLUTION 76-36 <br />approve Resolution 76-36 as follows: REAPPORTIONMENT <br />OF ASSESSMENTS <br />RESOLUTION 76-36 POTHEN HOMESITES <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING ~ COUNTY AUDITOR TO REAPPOR- <br />TION THE ASSESSMENTS ON THE POTHEN HOMESITES ADDITION <br />Upon a vote being taken the following voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, <br />Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Steele and Labalestra and the following voted <br />"nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Council noted a complaint from a Fry Avenue resident because of lack of FRY AVENUE PARKING <br />off-street parking spaces for apartment residents. <br />~] <br />
