<br />_~ <br /> <br />MINUTES , <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING ~ ~ ~'~ <br />SEPTEMBER 8, 1977 <br />Page 2 <br />Mayor Warkentien informed council that Councilman COUNCIL <br />McGough would assume all of former Councilman ASSIGNMENT <br />Ecklund's council assignments with the exception PETER MCGOUGH <br />of representative to the Ramsey County League of <br />Local Government, which Councilman Black will <br />assume and Councilman McGough would be an alter- <br />nate. <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilman MINUTES OF <br />Labalestra to approve the minutes of August 25, AUGUST 25, <br />1977 as corrected. Upon a roll call the following 1977 <br />voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen McGough, <br />Labalestra and the following voted "nay": None. <br />Motion carried. Councilman Steele absent. <br />Mr. Todd Lefko appeared before council and discussed TODD ~EFKO <br />the Land Planning Act and programs initiated by the METROPbLITAN <br />Metro Council. These programs were brought up to COUNCIL <br />date and new ideas that are being started were dis- <br />cussed. Following Mr. Lefko's discussion the council <br />held a question and answer period on over-all programs <br />handled by the Metro Council along with State and <br />Federal programs now in effect and others being drafted. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes asked whether the contract <br />for the Section 8 Housing has been drafted, the City <br />must have this contract before clerical help can be <br />paid, as yet we do not have a contract. <br />Fire Chief Jerry Renchin and Bruce Fredrick, repre- <br />senting the Motorola Company appeared before council <br />regarding digital dial radio equipment for the squad <br />car for rescue purposes. Mr. Fredrick reported that <br />just the top module will be added, adapting our squad <br />with Ramsey County Sheriff equipment now in use. <br />Councilman McGough moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien <br />to give Fire Chief Renchin authority to purchase the <br />module system equipment, not to exceed $270.00. Upon <br />a vote being taken, the following voted "aye": Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Labalestra and McGough. <br />The following voted "nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Steele absent. <br />FIRE CHIEF <br />JERRY RENCHIN <br />COMMUNICATION <br />RAMSEY COUNTY <br />HOSPITAL <br />AUTOMATIC <br />FIRE DOOR FOR <br />FIRE STATION <br />monies paid to the City for State Fair service, <br />totalling $1,000.00. Upon a vote being taken the following <br />voted "aye": Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, McGough, <br />Labalestra. The following voted "Nay": None. Motion carried. <br />Fire Chief Jerry Renchin reported to council the <br />purchase of the automatic door equipment would come <br />from funds realized from the Minnesota State Fair <br />when they contracted the fire truck for $100 per <br />day. Fire Chief Renchin explained to council the <br />operation of the door and how the timer for closing <br />the door will operate. Councilman Black moved, <br />seconded by Mayor Warkentien to authorize the pur- <br />chase of the automatise door opener, with timer, with <br />
