3 <br />MEETING OF FEBRUARY 25, 1971 <br />J <br />The regular meeting was called to order at 9:15 P.M. with the following members <br />present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, Stone and Taylor. Also <br />present were Clerk Printon, Engineer Lemberg and Attorney Seed. <br />Minutes: Stone moved that the minutes of the February 11, 1971 <br />meeting be approved as corrected. Ecklund seconded and <br />the motion carried. <br />1970 Fire Department The January financial report was reviewed by the Council. <br />Improvement Fund It was pointed out that $7500 was allocated for the Fire <br />Allocation: Department Improvement Fund in 1970 and not $10,000 as <br />indicated in the report. The Village Clerk stated that <br />the adjustment would be made to indicate the correct amount. <br />Correspondence Various letters of correspondence were read and ordered <br />Read: filed. <br />Village Office An estimate for the remodeling of the Village office was <br />Remodeling Estimate presented by the Village Clerk. After discussion, the <br />Presented: Village Engineer was directed to prepare plans and speci- <br />fications for Council consideration. <br />Utility Billing A letter was received from the 5t. Paul Sewer Department <br />Letter from St. Paul regarding utility billing of perimeter residences now being <br />Sewer Department: billed. by the City of St. Paul. The Village Clerk was <br /> directed to review the matter with representatives of the <br /> Metropolitan Sewer Board. <br />Letter of Mayor Warkentien read a letter of recommendation for Steven <br />Recommendation: A. Nelson, candidate for appointment to possible vacancy <br /> in the position of Justice of the Peace. <br />Water Rate Study Brad Lemberg, Village Engineer reported on his attendance <br />Meeting: at a meeting with the City of St. Paul regarding a water <br /> rate study. He stated that the Village of Roseville's <br /> position was to push for a water rate reduction while the <br /> City of West St. Paul had taken a "wait and see" position. <br /> He further stated that the City of St. Paul presented a <br /> voluminous report updating their water system. It was Mr. <br /> Lemberg's recommendation that the Village of Falcon Heights <br /> wait to see if St. Paul intends to raise water rates be- <br /> fore taking action. <br />Roseville Proposed Mr. Lemberg also reported on a letter from the Metropoli- <br />Sanitary Sewer tan Sewer Board regarding a proposed sanitary sewer im- <br />Improvement: provement by the Village of Roseville, He stated that the <br />improvement had no effect on the Village of Falcon Heights <br />and that he would so inform the Sewer Board by letter. <br />• Basement Flooding - The Council was informed that a seFaer plug on Iowa between <br />Iowa Avenue: Snelling and Arona caused some basement flooding. The <br />Roseville sewer department cleared the line and reported <br />an apparent piece of pipe or steel in the line as the <br />
