He also suggested that ayoung adult square dancing <br />club would benefit the Village residents. <br />Mr. Quast introduced Miss Pat Rizzi and her work creden- <br />tials, and suggested that the Council employ Miss Rizzi as <br />S~mimer Recreation Director, at a salary of $1200 fora 1g <br />week period including prior program planning. <br />Motion by Mayor Warkentien that the Village allocate $1at00 <br />as requested by the Recreation Advisory Committee, and to <br />authorize the Clerk-Administrator to take the money from <br />the permanent improvement fund. A discussion was held and <br />the motion died for lack of a second. <br />Motion by Mayor Warkentien, seconded by Councilman Black, <br />to allocate $1i1~00 for the 1972 recreation program and adopt <br />the summer program as proposed by the Recreation Advisory <br />Committee with the exception of Item 8. A discussion was <br />held, and Councilman Stone moved to amend the motion to <br />eliminate one playground leader and appropriate supplies, <br />in order to stay within the approved budget, as the Idaho- <br />Snelling playground cannot be used this summer, which would <br />be a savings of $878. Councilman Ecklund seconded the <br />amendment. Roll call on the amendment was, AYES: Council- <br />men Ecklund, Stone. NAYS: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen <br />Black, Taylor. Amendment failed. Ro11 call on the original <br />motion was called as follows: AYES: Mayor Warkentien, Council- <br />men Black, Ecklund, Taylor. NAY: Councilman Stone. <br />Motion carried. <br />Hiring of Motion by Mayor Warkentien, seconded by Councilman Ecklund, <br />Summer Recreation that the Village employ Miss Pat Rizzi as Summer Recreation <br />Director: Director, at a salary of $1200 for a l2 week period which <br />would include prior program planning, as recommended by <br />the Recreation Advisory Committee. Motion carried. <br />Hiring of Motion by Mayor Warkentien, seconded by Councilman Taylor, <br />S'~mm~er Recreation that the Clerk-Administrator be authorized to hire play- <br />Assistants: ground assistants with the help of Miss Pat Rizzi, at a <br />salary of $2.25 per hour for leaders and $1.25 per hour for <br />assistant leaders. Councilman Stone abstained. Motion <br />carried. <br />Resident Chairman John Quast reported to the Council that several <br />Ob3ections to residents attended the recreation advisory meeting on April <br />Garden Park Site: 25, 1972, and ob3ected to the Garden Maple Knoll proposed <br />park site. A discussion was held at the Council meeting <br />in respect to the objections. Mr. Morris Mitteness, <br />University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus employee, was <br />present and related his feeling to the Council on the site. <br />He indicated he was not at the meeting in an official <br />
