1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />I~ffNtJTES OF REGiTLAR COilI1CIL MEETING <br />FALCOtd HEIGHTS, MIT1?~rESOTA <br />OCTOBER 25, 1973 <br />A regular meeting of the Falcon Heights Village Council was called to order by <br />Acting A4ayor Stone at 8:00 P.P~. <br />Acting T~Zayor Stone, Councilmen Black and Ecklund, and PRESENT <br />Councilwoman Stocker. Also present were Clerk Adminis- <br />trator Barnes, Engineer Lemberg and Attorney S'cor. <br />Mayor Warkentien arrived at 8:16 P.M. <br />"lone. ARSE ~~T <br />~ 8~ <br />Acting ATayor Stone opened the public hearing on the PUBLIC HEARIAIG <br />rezoning request of Nick J. Pothen, for property at REZO~~TI"TG OF POTHEPI PROPERTY <br />1889 North Hamline Avenue at 8:01 P.M., and the notice 1889 PdORTH HAMLITTE <br />of:?public hearing was read. The affidavit of publication <br />and mailing certification were noted. <br />Councilman Black stated that the Falcon Heights Planning <br />Commission met on Wednesday, October 21~, 1973, and at <br />that time held a public hearing of which all property <br />owners within 300 feet of the said property were sent <br />notice. A petition was presented to the Planning <br />Commission with signatures of 2I~ of the property owners <br />opposing the rezoning. Councilman Black reported <br />that the Planning Commission voted unanimously to recom- <br />mend to the Village Council that the application for <br />rezoning of property at 1889 P?orth Hamline, be denied. <br />Councilman Black then stated that he had received a letter WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATIOPI <br />from rdick .i. Pothen, withdrawing his application for FOR REZONING <br />rezoning, on Thursday, October 25, 1973. <br />Councilman Black moved, seconded by Councilman Ecklund, <br />that the withdrawal of the application for rezoning be <br />accented. I~"otion carried. <br />Joseph O~Tdei11, an attorney representing P~Sr. Oscar Goedert, <br />1803 Simpson Avenue, presented a petition to the Village <br />Council with 200 signatures, requesting that a special <br />election be held, for the voters to decide if the Village <br />of Falcon Heights should be authorized to issue on-sale <br />liquor licenses. Plfr. Goedert is interested in operating <br />a supper club type restaurant at 1552 W. Larpenteur <br />Avenue. <br />PZr. John McDono~zgh of Wisconsin National Insurance Co., <br />and P?r. Lowell Anderson of the Falcon Heights Pharmacy, <br />were present and stated that they feel this type of <br />operation would be an asset to the business community. <br />Mr. Larry Dittel, Deputy of the Ramsey County Sheriff ~s <br />Department stated that he feels there would be a <br />minimum of problems with a business of this type. <br />•TOhn Labalestra of the Lido Cafe stated that he also <br />feels this tyn e of business would be an asset to th e <br />business community.
