~s <br />and the Commonwealth Terrace Area, for grades kindergarten <br />through four, two days a week at each playground. A fee <br />of X2.00 will be charged to the residents participating <br />in the Commonwealth area, and th~* are also to provide <br />volunteer assistants for the brogram. It was suggested <br />that instead of charging $2.00 per child that a "package <br />deal" of a minimum of `~~00.00 be charged, to be <br />collected by the University or the residents in Common- <br />wealth, and then submitted to the City of Falcon Heights. <br />A director will b e hired along with two assistants at <br />$2.25 per hour, and i.f necessary another two assistants <br />would be hired. <br />Mayor I.larkentien moved, seconded by Councilman Steele, RECREATION DIRIxTOR <br />that Craig Strane, 530 01d Highway 8, New Brighton, b e CR4IG STRANE <br />hired as the recreation director for the 197i.~ program, at <br />a salary of X1,200.00. Motion unanimously carried. <br />Clerk-Administrator Barnes also reported that the Rec- <br />reation Committee would again like to offer a figure <br />skating program for boys and girls in tt•~o -ten week <br />sessions. The program would be self-sustaining. <br />P•~a~•or Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilwoman Stocker, FIGURE .SKATING LESSONS <br />to approve the offering of figure skating lessons in <br />two sessions, at X20.00 per child, for each ten week <br />session, and authorized Clerk-Administrator Barnes <br />to procure ice time at X30.00 per hour. Motion <br />unanimously carried. <br />T~iayor Warkentien introduced the following Resolution ICE ARENA -LITTLE CANADA <br />and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION 71~-11 <br />A RE~9OLUTION COIvTP~NDING THE CITIZENS OF LITTLE CANADA <br />FOR THEIR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE A PUBLIC ICE ARET3A <br />Councilman Steele seconded the foregoing Resolution and <br />upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in <br />favor thereof : Mayor W~.r'_centien, Councilmen Black, <br />Ecklund, and Steele, and Councilwoman Stocker, and the <br />following voted against the same: None. SHERIFF'S REPORT <br />Councilman Ecklund moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, SERVICE'S FOR SENIOR CITIZENS <br />that the City expend X30.00 from the Human Rights Budget <br />to pay for the printing of documents by the c anmittee, <br />listing services available to senior citizens. Motion <br />carried. <br />
