4Q <br />Clark Armstead, Roger Gammel and Richard Malone, repre- CLARK'S SUBMARINE SANDWICHES <br />senting Clark's Submarine Sandwiches, Inc., were present VARIANCE REQUEST <br />for discussion of the variance application, requesting <br />the authority to park within ten feet of the right of <br />way on Snelling Drive and Larpenteur Avenue. <br />Councilman Black read the minutes of the Planning Commis- <br />sion which had convened on Wednesday, May 8, 197t~, and <br />recommended that the City Council approve said variance, <br />provided that autos are not allowed to extend beyond the <br />sidewalk line. <br />Mrs. Betty Jones of the Citizen's Committee was present <br />and voiced her opposition to the Clark's Submarine <br />Sandwich Shop at this corner, which she felt would be <br />aesthetically displeasing and would defeat the purpose <br />of the Citizen's Committee to redevelop the business <br />district. <br />Councilman Black moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, <br />to approve the appl.3.cation for the variance by Clark's <br />Submarine Sandwiches, Inc. Upon a vote being taken <br />thereon, the following voted in favor thereof : Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, and Steele, and <br />the following voted against the same: None. Motion <br />unanimously carried. <br />The inspection report by Bert S1ama was noted. INSPECTION REPORT <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilman Black, TREE CHIPPING <br />that Clerk Administrator Barnes attend a meeting con- <br />cerning Tree Chipping on Friday, May 10, 1971. <br />Motion carried. <br />The Liquor Revenue and Expenditure Report was presented LIQUOR REVENUE & EXPENDITURE <br />by Clerk Administrator Barnes. REPORT <br />Councilman Steele moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, REPA3~NT -SANITARY SEWER <br />that a $1,200.00 repayment be made to the Sanitary Sewer LOAN <br />Fund, and that the interest on the loan be rescinded, <br />and further that there be a review after the next four <br />months, to determine if at that time it is feasible to <br />make another repayment on the principal. <br />Upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in <br />favor thereof : Mayor Warkerrtien, Councilmen Black, <br />.and. Steele, d the following voted against the same: <br />Councilman E~und. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Black moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, to PURCHASE OF CASH REGISTER <br />approve the purchase of an NCR Cash Register with a <br />change maker, in the amount of $650.00. Motion carried. <br />The Sheriff's report for April, 1971, was noted. SHERIFF'S REPORT <br />Councilman Black moved, seconded by Councilman Steele, GENIItAL PAYROLL <br />to approve the general payroll in the amount of $3,0110.65, <br />for the first half of May, 197l~. Motion carried. <br />
