4Q Clark Armstead, Roger Gammel and Richard Malone, repre- CLARK'S SUBMARINE SANDWICHES senting Clark's Submarine Sandwiches, Inc., were present VARIANCE REQUEST for discussion of the variance application, requesting the authority to park within ten feet of the right of way on Snelling Drive and Larpenteur Avenue. Councilman Black read the minutes of the Planning Commis- sion which had convened on Wednesday, May 8, 197t~, and recommended that the City Council approve said variance, provided that autos are not allowed to extend beyond the sidewalk line. Mrs. Betty Jones of the Citizen's Committee was present and voiced her opposition to the Clark's Submarine Sandwich Shop at this corner, which she felt would be aesthetically displeasing and would defeat the purpose of the Citizen's Committee to redevelop the business district. Councilman Black moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, to approve the appl.3.cation for the variance by Clark's Submarine Sandwiches, Inc. Upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof : Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, Ecklund, and Steele, and the following voted against the same: None. Motion unanimously carried. The inspection report by Bert S1ama was noted. INSPECTION REPORT Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilman Black, TREE CHIPPING that Clerk Administrator Barnes attend a meeting con- cerning Tree Chipping on Friday, May 10, 1971. Motion carried. The Liquor Revenue and Expenditure Report was presented LIQUOR REVENUE & EXPENDITURE by Clerk Administrator Barnes. REPORT Councilman Steele moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, REPA3~NT -SANITARY SEWER that a $1,200.00 repayment be made to the Sanitary Sewer LOAN Fund, and that the interest on the loan be rescinded, and further that there be a review after the next four months, to determine if at that time it is feasible to make another repayment on the principal. Upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof : Mayor Warkerrtien, Councilmen Black, .and. Steele, d the following voted against the same: Councilman E~und. Motion carried. Councilman Black moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, to PURCHASE OF CASH REGISTER approve the purchase of an NCR Cash Register with a change maker, in the amount of $650.00. Motion carried. The Sheriff's report for April, 1971, was noted. SHERIFF'S REPORT Councilman Black moved, seconded by Councilman Steele, GENIItAL PAYROLL to approve the general payroll in the amount of $3,0110.65, for the first half of May, 197l~. Motion carried.
