2661 <br /> REGULAR MEETING OF JANUARY 11, 1968 <br />Tie regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. with the following members <br />present= Mayor Warkentien, Clerk Strandquist, Councilmen Black and Stone. <br />Also present were Treasurer Olsen, Attorney Kyle, and Engineer Lemberg. <br />Representing the League of Women Voters was Mrs. Lillian Duethmann. <br />Correspondence: Letter of January 9, 1968 stated that Mr. S. T. Baldwin has <br />Highway Dept. retired from Highway Department after forty-sax years of <br />S. T. Baldwin service. Mr.. Kenneth .H. Hagestad has been appointed to t h e <br />Retires= position of Utilities Engineer. <br />N. S. •P. Co.s R. L. Vannelli, Supervisor Municipal Services of N.S.P. Co. <br /> listed 7,000 lumen overhead mercury vapor street lights <br /> that were installed in Village on December 1, 1967. <br />Ramsey County <br />Sheriff Law Bulletin from the Ramsey County Sheriffs Department showing <br />Enforcement law enforcement service for the month of December 1967 was <br />Report December reviewed. <br />1967: <br />Civil Defense: Progress Report for loca7~ civil defense was submitted by <br />. Paul Loomis, Director of Falcon Heights Civil Defense. <br />University of Letter of January 3, 1968 over'signature of R. V. Lund <br />Minnesota Assistant Vice President and DirectoP of Plant Services of <br />Acquires Land; the University of Minnespta stated that the University has <br />_ acquired land for the enlargement of the campus by direct <br /> purchase and has contracted for the demolition and removal <br /> of the buildings located at 1705 North Cleveland Avenue. <br />Harold J. Isaksen Harold J. Isaksen, 1582 Hollywood Count has requested <br />` 1582 Hollywood removal of .catalpa tree.. Black moved,~seconded by <br />Court -Tree Strandquist that village engineer be authorized to <br />Removal Request: determine whether tree is located on Isaksen~s property <br />or on village property. Ayes: A11. .Nays: ...None. Motion <br />was carried. <br />Adding Machines Clerk Strandquist advised that office adding machine was <br />„ repaired this day. Inasmuch as present machine is seventeen <br />..years old, he will make inquiries as to cost for purchasing <br />a new ones and report to the council. <br />Falcon Heights George Jansen, new manager of the Falcon Heights State <br />State Bank - Bank, was present to°inquire about possibility of installing <br />_ Parking Problems; "15 minute parking only~~ signs in the parking area in front <br />of the bank. After discussion about various parking <br />problems at the Northome Shopping Center, it was decided <br />;~ that Engineer Lemberg will call Ramsey County about per- <br />m#.tting such signs. Mr. Jansen was advised that except <br />' for approximately six feet, which is county night-of-~ray~ <br />~:. the remaining property used for parking is privately owned <br />~~ and the Village of Falcon Heights has no jurisdiction ove r <br />• same. <br />
